The scene was wonderful in its setting and unique
ness. The whole Community of Mt. de Sales mingled
with their guests, representatives of practically every
family in the business and professional life of the
city. Visiting Sisters from all the Convents of the
States were present, and from as far away as New
York.
Many clergymen from Macon and from other cities
came to do honor to the occasion, and chief of
these, the Rt. Rev. Bishop moved amid the guests
lending charm to the picture.
From 7:00 until 9:00 a steady stream of happy-
hearted people moved in and out of the halls and
corridors of Mt. de Sales. The entire set of rooms
and corridors of the first floor were thrown open to
the guests. Never in the history of the city were
more beautiful decorations seen. Through the prince
ly generosity of Mr. Dan C. Horgan, of the Catholic
Laymen’s Association, hundreds of elegant palms and
ferns and flowers found their way to Mt. de Sales.
He also provided skilled decorators, who worked un
der the direction an dexquisite taste of Mrs. Horgan
and her committee of helpers, to make Mt. de Sales
a bower of beauty.
The music for the reception furnished by the Gut-
tenberger Orchestra was choice and classic. In an
alcove screened by tall palms the musicians filled the
evening with melody.
At 9:30 all repaired to a veranda, where the can
celled bonds were burned by the Bishop while the
Te Deum was sung by the “Multitude.**■
