Atlanta, Ga.—The erection of a
club house to cost approximately
$75,000 was authorized at one of the
finest meetings in"the history of At
lanta Council, Knights of Columbus,
recently when the Council unani
mously voted to proceed with the
building project after hearing the
report of the committee appointed to
study the matter. The club house
will be erected at 311 and 315 Court-
land Street, between Baker and
I Forrest Avenue, diagonally across
from Sacred Heart parochial school,
on a site on which the Council has

$35,000 worth of stock in the Colum
bian Building Association, to finance
the erection of the building, will be
launched, and an executive commit
tee consisting of "the grand knight,
the president of the Columbian
Building Association and a member
from each parish has been named to
work out the details. The members
of this committee are J. A. Lallatte,
R. A. Magi 11, J. C. Gavan, T. C. Ham
ilton and C. J Collins. The Council
has five thousand dollars in cash and
liberty bonds and owns its present
quarters, and-with the $35(000 it is
expected to raise through the sale
of stock, the proposition will be in
good shape.
The club house will contain a
Council' chamber and ballroom,
lounge rooms, gymnasium, locker
rooms, swimming pool, basketball
court, tennis court and other fea
tures. Atlanta Catholics have long
felt _the necessity of a building of
this kind, and the enthusiasm dis
played indicates that the ambition
is about to be realized.
Fourth Degree Conferred On 115
Knights of Columbus At Tampa

Tampa, Fla.—The Fourth Degree
of the Knights of Columbus was
conferred on a class of 115 here
February 28 at one of the most im
pressive and successful Knights of
Columbus affairs ever conducted in
the state of Florida. The exempli
fication was conducted under the
direction of Richard A. Magill, of At
lanta, Master of the Fourth Degree
for the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida
and Cuba, and was attended by D.
J. Callahan, supreme treasurer of
the Knights of Columbus, of Wash
ington. D. G., and many other dis
tinguished members of the order
from the Southern states.
The program opened with High
Mass at the Church of the Sacred
Heart, Very Rev. John B. Doonan,
S. J., pastor, delivering the sermon.
The exemplification of the degree
followed iu the quarters of Tampa
| Council, the candidates coming from
all parts of Florida including Jack
sonville, Miami, Daytona, Lakeland,
Orlando and St. Petersburg as well
as Tampe. '
In the evening 500 Knights and
Iheir ladies were guests at a for
mal banquet at the Tan*pa Bay
Hotel, at which addresses were made
; by leading local, slate and national
! officials of the Knights of Colum-
| bus.

the banquet. Colonel Baya was
chairman of the committee on ar
rangements for the degree, of which
Tampa Knights of Columbus may
well be proud.
St. Louis Knights to Erect
Memorial to Archbishop
St. Louis, Mo.—Through Chairman
Harry G. Whelan, of the monument
committee pf the St. Louis General
assembly, Fourth degree, Knights of
Columbus, three plans prepared by
the committee for a memorial to
Most Rev. Peter Richard Ke.urick,
the first Archbishop of St. Louis,
who died March 4, 1896 are ready for
submission to the city plan com
mittee. just as soon as that body
shall have been appointed its ap
pointed its approval jury.
It is the desire of the Knights to
have the monunmit erected on what
is called "Kenrick Park,” a triangu
lar piece of ground bounded by
Lindell Boulevard, Vandeventer and
MfcPhersoii avenues—a location with
in half a block of where Archbishop
Kenrick resided during the closing
years of bis life and where be died,
at 3810 Lindell' Boulevard.
Miami Charity Bail
(Special to The Bulletin.)
Miami, Fla.—The third annual
charity .ball of Miami Council,
Knights of Columbus, will be held at
the Miami Beach Casino Easter
Monday, and Roland S. Morgan is
chairman of the committee of ar
rangements. Tickets for the ball,
the proceeds of which will be devot
ed to the poor of Miamr regardless
of creed, are on sale at several local
hotels and at the office of the com
mittee in charge.

State Deputy of North Carolina to
fill the unexpired term of late State
Deputy Charles F. Linthicum. Mr.
Montague has held nearly every of
fice in his council, and is now grand
knight He has helped to institute
every council in North Carolina;
lias participated in ninety-three ma
jor degrees in North Carolina. South
Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. He
is well qualified to fill the office just
elected to and the order in North
Carolina can look forward to some
very effective work during his ad
ministration. Mr. Montague is a na
tive of Boston, Mass., has lived in
Charlotte for the past twenty years,
and is in the real estate business
under the firm name of Gallagher
and Montague.

member of the State Industrial

popular as a speaker and is known •

lems. His home is in East Liverpool
Ohio.
He succeeded the - late John A.
O Dwyer, of Toledo as a supreme
director of the Knights of Columbufe.
