SACRED HEART ALUMNAE
IN SPRING ENTERTAINMENT
Sacred Heart Alumnae entertained
recently with a social at the Davison-
Paxon tea room, with Miss Eleanor
Harrison as general chairman. The
entertainment was splendidly attend

GARDINER, DIES AT 84

ATLANTA, Ga.—Miss - Elizabeth
Gardiner one of the oldest members
of Sacred Heart parish, pioneer At
lantan and a member of a prominent
Southern family died here late in
Aoril at the age of 84. Miss Gardiner
came to Atlanta with her family many
years ago and had lived here since.
The funeral was held from Sacred
Heart Church wtih a Requiem Mass
the Rev. Edward P. McGrath, S. M.,
pastor, officiating. Interment was in
Oakland Cemetery. Surviving Miss
Gardiner are her sister, Mrs. Kate
Lovett, with whom she made her
home, a cousin, John Gardiner, and a
number of nieces and nephews, in
cluding Mrs. Robert R. Otis, Miss
Margaret Doonan, the Rev. John B.
Doonan and other members of the
Doonan family in Atlanta and Mrs.
Edward H. Oliver, Rome.
MRS. MARK CL0HECY OF
ATLANTA PARISH DIES

ATLANTA—Mrs. Mark Clohecy, one
of tlie oldest and best loved members
of the Sacred Heart parish, died here
recently after a long illness. Born in
New Orleans, a member of the well
known de la Vergne family, she pass
ed her girlhood and young married
life in that city. In 1914 she, with
her family, came to Atlanta, where
she lived in the Sacred Heart parish
until the time of her death. Until
age and infirmity prevented she was
engaged in all parish activities. Her
deep piety and lovable character en
deared her to all.
She is survived by three daughters,
Mrs. Dan Wise of New Orleans, and
the Misses Viv and Aimee Clohecy
of Atlanta. Her funeral took place
from the Sacred Heart Church, Rev.
Edward McGrath, S. M., pastor, offici
ating. The interment was at Great
Lawn Cemetery.
Capt. Lazaro Pablo
Dies in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, Ga.—Capt. Lazaro
Pablo, for more than forty years a
leading citizen of this city, died at his
home here suddenly in April. Cap
tain Pablo was bom in Spain, in the
province of Gerona, March 31, 1864;
he was graduated with honors from
the University of Gerona at the age
of 19, and completed his education at
the naval academy at Cartagena.
Coming to Brunswick in 1895, he
was married two years later to Miss
Alice Vera Raffo. Surviving in ad
dition to his widow are two sons,
Louis P. Artau, Eugen, Ore., and Be
nito A. Artau, London, Eng.; a
daughter, Miss Dorothy Artau,
Athens, Ga.; and a sister, Miss Isa
bel Artau, Barcelona, Spain. The
funeral was held from St. Francis
Xavier Church with a Requiem Mass,
the Rev. James T. Reilly, S.M.. of
ficiating. Interment was in Palmet
to Cemetery.
O’HARA-CARROLL
FUNERAL IN ATLANTA
Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Car-
rc.ll, who died at Cairo, Ga., and of
her relative, little Miss Frances
O’Hara, who died at Ocilla, Ga., were
held from the Church of the Immacu
late Conception April 28. Mrs. Car-
roll and Miss O’Hara were members
of the O’Hara family, traveling trad
ers, who return each spring to At
lanta and Immaculate Conception
parish for funeral services of mem
bers who have died during the year.
