MEMPHIS. Tenn.—The Most Rev.
William L. Adrian, D. D., Bishop of
Nashville, presided at the Monastery
of the Poor Clares at Freyser Station
at the ceremony at which Miss Mar
guerite Edwards of Memphis and Miss
Marl Caummisar of Knoxville, were
clothed id the habit of St. Clare, and
Sister Mary Joseph, who has served
her term of novitiate, was admitted
to the profession of her temporary
vows-
After the procession, the candidates
for the habit of St. Clare, took their
places in the Nuns’ choir clothed as
brides; the Very Rev. Optatus Loef-
fler, O. F. M., provincial of the
Sacred Heart province, was celebrant
of the Mass and the Rev. Harold Des
Champs was master of ceremonies.
The sermon was delivered by Bishop
Adrian, who outlined the vows taken
by the Nuns, and asserted that the
life of penance and self-denial of the
Poor Clares while intended first of
all for the sanctification of the nuns
themselves is the most efficacious
means for bringing about the reign
of Christ in the hearts of men.
The candidates for the habit of the
Poor Clares having expressed their
sincere desire to enter the order,
Bishop Adrian blessed the habits, and
the candidates, retiring in their
bridal robes, re-appeared in the habit
of the order. Miss Edwards is now
Sister Mary Stella of the Visitation.
Sister aMry Joseph then pronounced
her temporary vows and received the
black veil and the crown of thorns
emblematic of the life of a Poor Clare
