AUGUST 22, 1936 THE BULLETIN OF THE CATHOLIC L AYMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA ELEVEN William McGinn Dies in Augusta, Aged 75 AUGUSTA, Ga.,—The funeral of William McGin, Ga member of Sacred Heart parish, who died early in Au gust, were held from Sacred Heart Church, the Rev. J. E. O’Donohoe, S. J., pastor, officiating. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. McGinn was seventy-five years old, a veteran of the Spanish-American War and widely known in Augusta. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J. L. Leverett and Mrs. Walter M. Jackson, two grandsons and three nephews, all of Augusta. JOS. A. O’LEARY NAMED LINE’S GENERAL AGENT (Special To The Bulletin) SAVANNAH, Ga. — Joseph A. O’Leary, chief clerk of the Merchants and Miners Transportation Company, has been appointed general agent of the company, D. R. McNeill, vice- president and general manager an nounces. Mr. O’Leary succeeds the late F. B. Bragg. Mr. O’Leary, who was educated at Benedictine School, has been with the line twenty-seven years, starting as mail clerk and ad vancing to manifest clerk, rate clerk, cashier and chief clerk before attain- ing his present promotion.- Bartolo Spano Dies— Columbus Parishoner (Special To The Bulletin) COLUMBUS, Ga.,— Bartolo Spano, a member of a widely known Colum bus Catholic family, died late in July in Augusta, where he had been ill for some time. Mr. Spano was a World War veteran and a member of Holy Family Church, from which his funeral was held with a Requiem Mass, the Rev. D. J. McCarthy, V. F., pastor, officiating. Interment was in Riverdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were H. C. Smith, Jr., Reid Ballard, A. D. Pope, Chas. W. Wooldridge, William Skinner and H. J. Jambon. John W. Simmons of Ludowici Parish Dies (Special to The Bulletin) LUDOWICI, Ga.—John W. Sim mons, prominent planter and naval stores operator of Ludowici, died sud denly here early in August at the age of 50. Mr. Simmons was a native of this city, where he was bom May 22, 1886, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Inez Ashmore Simmons, four sots, two daughters, four sisters, Mrs. J. D. Mauldin and Mrs. W. T. McLamb, of Ludowici, Mrs. E. Middleton, of Tampa, and Mrs. G. A. Ford, of Fargo, N. D., and a brother, James T. Sim- mons, of Gum Branch. After the wedding trip to the East, Mr. and Mrs. Lambert will live in Decatur. was held from the local Catholic Church, of which Mr. Simmons was a member, the Marist Fathers from Brunswick conducting the services.
