portant historical committee of the
Bicentennial Celebration. Besides this
he- has been actively associated with
all community campaigns for funds,
many of which he served as chairman
of publicity. During his residence in
Augusta, he was admitted to the
Georgia Bar, and is now a member of
the executive committee of the Au

membership of which he is held in
the highest esteem as a lawyer rnd
gentleman.
Mr. Reid is one of Augusta’s most
widely known citizens. He served as
president of the Catholic Press As
sociation from 1932 to 1934, and rep
resented the association at the Holy
Year ceremonies in Rome in 1933. He
is now chairman of the Literary
Awards Foundation of the association,
and a member of the executive board

Because of his accomplishments and
his national prominence, Mr. Reid, in

the degree of Doctor of Laws by
Spring Hill College and the Universi

year he was made a Knight of St.
Gregory by Pope Pius XI.
Though Augusta regrets to lose Mr.
Reid, his fellow members of the
Chamber of Commerce congratulate
The Catholic News upon securing him
to direct its editorial destinies.
We wish for him Godspeed in his
new assignment, and know that his
transfer to New York will in no wise
detract from his deep love for Au
gusta.
