riage of Miss Helen Joan Barbot,
daughter of Mrs. Joseph C. Barbot,
and the late Mr. Barbot. to Mr.
Leon S. Brux, Jr„ took place at the
Cathedral of St. John the Baptist,
June 18. the E'ight Reverend Mon
signor James J. Mary officiating.
Miss Mary Elizabeth Barbot was
her sister’s maid of honor, and an
other sister. Miss Annette Barbot,
served as bridesmaid. Mr. P. Sidney
Cromer. Jr., was the best man, and
three cousins of the bride, Mr.
George Durban, Jr., of Aiken, and
Mr. William C. MacMurphy., Ill, and
William Porter Cart, Jr., of Charles
ton. served as ushers.
Mrs. Brux’s father, the’ late Mr.
Joseph C. Barbot, was clerk of city
council here for more than twenty
years. Mr. Brux is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Leon S. Brux, and is asso
ciated with Cameron and Barkley
Company here.

Miss Eleanor Wells was her sis
ter’s maid of honor, and Miss Cather
ine Kelly and Miss Mary Cartright
were bridesmaids. George D. Gatt-
man, the bridegroom's uncle, was his
best man. and Anthony Wells and
William Gattman. Jr., were ushers.

After a wedding trip to North
Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Ragan will

SPARTANBURG. S. C. — The mar
riage of Miss Kathryn Maria Sumner,
formerly of Augusta, and Mr. Ro
bert Boyd Kearse. Jr., took place
June 12 in the gardens of the Kearse
home, the Rev. Francis O. Ferri. Pas
tor of St. Paid the Apostle Church,
officiating.
Mrs. Kearse is the daughter of
Mrs. Theresa Cain Sumner, and the
late Mr. Bernard Sumner. Mr. Kearse
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
B. Kearse of this city.
The bride, who entered with her
brother, Bernard Sumner, was at
tended by Miss Catherine Blowers,
as maid of honor. Miss Nan Bassett,
Miss Lucille Southard. Miss Mary
Louise Dodge, and Miss Edna Mae
Wright, of Augusta, as bridesmaids,
and Madeline King as flower-giri.
Monte Crawford was the bride
groom's best man .and William Jones,
Gilbert Jones, Nolen Penland, Jr.,
Daniel Spratt, were groomsmen, with
T. K. Fletcher. Jr., F. I. Brownley,
Jr., and Paul Neal, of Belmont, act
ed as ushers. Master Frank Wright,
Jr., was ringbearer.
Prior to the entrance of the wed
ding party, a program of nuptial mu
sic was rendered by Mrs. Byrd Aus
tell McIntyre, contralto. Mrs. Charles

AUGUSTA. Ga. — At the Sacred
Heart Church on the morning of
June 20, Miss Margaret Mary Mul-
herin was married to William Henry
Holmes. Jr., the Rev. James A. Gree
ley. S. J., performing the ceremony.
Miss Georgia Mulherin. sister of
the bride, served as maid of honor,
and Edward H. Rhodes acted as best
man. The groomsmen were Larkin
Mulherin. of Macon, a brother of the
bride, and Earl Story.
Appropriate music was played by
Mrs. Hugh Kinchley. violinist, ac
companied by Miss Alice Doyle, at
the organ.
Mrs. Holmes is the daughter of
Mr. Edward J. Mulhedin. and the late
Mrs. Georgia Costello Mulherin. Mr.
Holmes is the son of Mrs. Jenny Page
Holmes and the late Mr. W. H.
Holmes.

and Mrs. Joseph Anthony Battle and
William Belven Moseley took place
June 21 at the Sacred Heart Church,

Mrs. Dorothy Copes, of Memphis

Frances Louise Conneff. Miss Mary
Battle, Miss Marion Sanders, Miss
Eleanor Mock, and Mrs. Joseph An
thony Battle, Jr.
Joseph Battle, brother of the bride,
acted as best man. and the grooms
men were Thorne Kitchell, Michael
Dowdy, James Blair, Jack Sullivan,
and James Casey.
Misses Barbara Jean Surrency and
Anne Holbrook were flower girls and
Master Ralph Hursey was the ring-
bearer.

Mrs. Hennessey, originally from
Dover, N. H., has been residing in
Charleston for a number of years.
She is connected in 'a secretarial
capacity with the port utilities com
mission. Mr. Hennessy is a member
of the Board of Aldermen of Charles
ton.

Mrs. Charles Schofield, the bride’s
sister, was matron of honor, and her

Mr. McGinley is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward William McGinley, of
Hagerstown, and is an engineer at

Smyrna, Florida, performed the cer
emony, which was followed by an in
formal reception.
Miss Margaret de Thierry, of In
dian Head, Maryland, was the bride’s
maid of honor and only attendant.
Dr. Edward W. Lowman, brother of
the bride, was the best man.
Mrs. Schaeffer is a graduate of St.
Joseph’s College, Emimtsburg, Mdf,
and for a year did post-graduate
work in dietetics at St. Mary’s Hos
pital. Detroit. For the past year she
has been dietician at St. Joseph’s
Hospital. Reading, Pa.
Mr. Schaeffer is the son of Dr.
John Scheaffer, president of Frank
lin and Marshall College, at Lan
caster. Pa., and the late Mrs. Schaef
fer. He holds a position with the
Berkshire Mills in Reading, where
the young couple will make their
home. He is a graduate of the Uni
versity of Michigan.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The marriage
of Miss E’uth Kate Hooper, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney B. Hooper, of
Albertville, Ala., and Thomas Lo
gan McCarthy, of Los Angeles, for
merly, was performed June 30, at
St. James Church, Gadsden, Ala., the
young couple leaving after the cere
mony for Los Angeles, where they
will make their home.
Mr. McCarthy is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. L. McCarthy, of Albert
ville, formerly of Savannah, and is
connected with the North American
Aviation Corporation in California.

Mrs. C. W. Carver, of Atlanta, an

ter, Miss Mary Carver, to Dr. Frank
lin Cox, of Bradentown, the ceremo
ny being performed by the Rev.
Thomas G. Jones, at the Immaculate
Conception Church here.
Mrs. Cox is a graduate of Wash
ington Seminary in Atlanta, and lat
er attended Manhattanville, in New'
York. Dr. Cox is a graduate of the
Southern Dental College in Atlanta.

Kane, and James A. Smith served as
ushers.
A musical program was rendered by.
Vincent J. Hurley, organist, and Mrs.
Ernest Trotti, vocalist.
After the ceremony the parents of
the bride entertained with a wed
ding breakfast and reception at the
East Lake Country Club. Following
which the young couple left for a
wedding trip through the Carolinas
and Tennessee, and upon their return
will make their home in Atlanta.
Asisting in the sanctuary were the
Rev. James T. Reilly, S. M„ and the
Rev. John P. Reis. S- M- Harrison
Burke and John Burke, cousins of
the bride, with James Pratt, were
the altar boys who served during
the Mass and ceremony.
The elaborate decorations of the
altar and sanctuary were supervised
by Mrs. Julia Pratt.

CHARLESTON, S. C.—Miss Lois
Loretta Powers, of Ashley Forest,
and Mr. Victor Laurence Anderson,
of Charleston, were married June 28
with a Nuptial Mass at St. Mary’s
Church, the Rev. Jeremiah W. Car-
mody, pastor, officiating, assisted by
the Rev. W. G. Doyle.
The wedding marked the twenty-
fifth anniversary of the marriage of
the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed
ward L. Powers.
Attendants of the bride - included
her Sister, Miss Charlotte Powers, as
maid of honor, and Mrs. William T.
Reynolds as bridesmaid. Charles
Hareldson, of Georgetown, was the
bridegroom’s best man, Dr. T. Willard
Reynolds, groomsman, and Jack Pow
ers and Fred Knight, ushers.
Mr. Anderson is the son of Mrs.
Victor Anderson, and the late Mr.
Anderson, and is connected with Ar
mour & Company.

Miss Martha de Golian, a sister of
the hridegroom was maid of honor,
and the bridesmaids were Miss Wim
berly Dixon, of Mobile, a cousin of
the bride, and Miss Angelique de
Golian, a sister of the groom. The
groomsmen were Wharton Mitcheli
and James Dorsey, of Atlanta; the
ushers. Stuart William. III. Charles
Shropshire and Alfred Kennedy, of
Atlanta; Dargan Cole, III. of Carters-
ville, Robert Butler and Jack But
ler, of Roanoke, Va. Felix de Golian,
of Atlanta, was the best man.
Following the ceremony the mem
bers of the bridal party, out-of-town
guests, and realtives and friends of
the young couple were entertained at
a reception at the Hotel Dempsey.
Mrs. de Golian’s Mother is the for
mer Miss Letitia Wimberly, of Lyons,
daughter of the late J. Z. Wimberly
and Mrs. Kathryne Letitia Wimber
ly. Her maternal grandparents were
the late Thomas Whitfield Mercer
and Mrs. Ada Goolsby Mercer. The
bride received a degree in journalism
from the University of Georgia last
June. .
Mr. de Golian is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Felix Eugene de Golian,
of Atlanta. On his paternal side he
is descended from the Dukes of Mo-
zovia, an ancient and noble family
of Poland. He is the grandson of the
late Margrave Roch de Golian and
Natalie. Baroness von Brockwich
Lewinski, of Warsaw, Poland. His
maternal grandparents were the late
George P. Carr and Frances Dickin
son Littlepage Mann, of Roanoke,
Virginia. He was born in Atlanta and
attended Marist College. Notre Dame
University, and the University of
Georgia Law School.

ing Catholic families of Georgia were
united with the marriage of Miss
Eleanor Katherine Harrison and
Christopher Robert Sheridan, which
was performed by the Most Rev. Ger
ald P. O’Hara, Bishop of Savannah-
Atlanta, at the Sacred Heart Church,
on the morning of July 3, in the pres
ence of an assemblage of relatives
and friends of the prominent young
couple.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Mecaslin Harrison, of
Atlanta, while the bridegroom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Aloysius
Sheridan, of Macon.
Miss Elizabeth Harrison, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor, with
Miss Alma Sheridan, sister of the
bridegroom, as bridesmaid. Philip
Sheridan was his brother's best man,
with Lawrence Harrison, a brother
of the bride acting as groomsman,

cousin, Miss Doris Smith, of Raleigh.

Smith, a brother of the bride, was

Mrs. Duchscher is the daughter of
Mr. Forman G. Smith and Mrs. Ruth
Wolfe Smith. Mr. Duchscher is the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theo
dore Duchscher.
After the ceremony the couple left
for a trip through Florida and upon
their return will be at home in Au
gusta.
Mrs. F. B. Knoblitt, of Marion, N.
C., a grandmother of the bride, was
among the out-of-town guests at the
ceremony.

Harold Richard, both of Lake Charles,
La., was solemnized July 3 at St.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Richard are de
scendants of French settlers in Lou
isiana. Mrs. Richard being the daugh
ter of Mrs. Loy P. Austin, of Fitz
gerald, and the late W. L. De la
Houssaye. of Lake Charles, where the
couple will make their home after
a wedding trip to Sea Island.

is the announcement of the marriage
of Miss Babbie Axt, of Highland
Park. 111., and Charles Harmon, son
of Mrs. Eugene Harmon, of Orlando,
Florida, which took place June 29
in Chicago.
Mr. Harmon is the grandson of the
late A. A. Aveilhe, of Savannah. He
is assistant golf professional at the
Knollwood Club, Lake Forest, 111.,
in the summer and at Orlando during
the winter season.

MACON, Ga —The marriage of Miss
Jane Favors and Mr. James Benedict
Hall was performed July 19 in the
rectory of St. Joseph's Church by the
Rev. Michael McNally, S. J.
Mrs. Hall is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James William Favors, and
was graduated from Mt. de Sales
Academy in June. Mr. Hall is the
son of Mrs. James Benedict Hall and
the late Mr. Hall. A graduate of Mer
cer, he is new connected with the

Lou Kannapell, daughter of Mrs.
Edward Charles Kannapell, and the
late Mr. Kannapell, formerly of At
lanta, and Maurice Delbert Eldel
brock, son of Mrs. Mary Eldelbrock,
of Kansas City, were married June
29, at the Blessed Sacrament Church
here, the ceremony being performed
and the Nuptial Mass celebrated by
the Rev. Cornelius McCoy.
Miss Mary Eldelbrock was maid of
honor, and the bridesmaids were Mias
Jean Ennis and Miss Janet Whitney,
while Leslie Cochrance acted as best
man, and Robert Roy Jacks, of New
Orleans, and Conrad Keefe, served
as ushers.
