VATICAN CITY.—On the birth
day of the noted scientist, the Holy
Father received in private audience
Professor Max Husmann, director of
the Montana International Institute
in Zugerberg, Switzerland.
Prof Husmann, who is a universal
ly recognized authority in the field
of physics and mathematics, on that
very morning had received Baptism
and the other sacraments, including
that of marriage, at the tomb of St.
Peter in the Crypt of the Vatican
Basilica. The sacraments were ad
ministered to him by His Excellency
Roberto Vincentini, Patriarch of An
tioch and Vicar of the Vatican Pa
triarchal Basilica.
The entrance into the church of
this illustrious scientist is especially
noteworthy both, for the manner in
which he was induced to embrace
the Catholic religion and because of
his prominence in the scientific and
educative field.
Professor Husmann arrived at the
truth alone, in consetjuence of his
studies and researches into religion
which he has carried out over many
years. He felt a tendency towards
the Catholic Faith, but. accustomed
to severe research and scientific ex
actness he would not give in to
vague aspirations on such an impor
tant and fundamental point as the
knowledge and practice of religion.
Thus it was that the calm investiga
tion of the truth led him fully to the
divine light that shines forth on the
doctrine and institutions of the Cath
olic church. He made his entrance
into the church with great enthusi
asm and was happy to tell the Pope
in the audience granted him of his
gratitude to God for the great grace
that He had granted him.
