SAVANNAH, Ga — St. Thomas’
Vocational School Auxiliary held
its annual meeting and re-elected
the following officers: Mrs. Joseph
P. Folliard, president; Mrs. J. W.
Stephens, vice-president; Mrs. A.
R. Paul, secretary and Miss Kate
Latham, treasurer. The nominat
ing committee was composed of
Mrs. J. Saxton Lloyd, Mrs. Cath
erine Chandler and Mrs. Harold
Mulherin.
Plans for the reception and buf
fet supper which will be given for
visitors attending the Diocesan
Convention of the N. C. C. W. on
May 2-3, were discussed, and the
report of the president gave an
outline of many activities carried
on at the school during the year.
Mrs. Frank O'Donnell was appoint
ed chairman of the clothing com
mittee, taking the place of Mrs.
Freida Petit, who is now making
her home in Florida.
The Rev. Eugene Kearney, C. S.
V., director of St. Thomas’, thank
ed the auxiliary for all it had done
for the school and the boys.

Dies in Augusta
ARMY COMMISSIONS FOR
BENEDICTINE GRADUATES
SAVANNAH, Ga.—Three more
graduates of Benedictine Mili
tary School have received com
missions as lieutenants in the U.
S. Army. Louis Richard Alexan
der, Thomas McGinn and Joseph
Patrick Jaugstetter have been
eommisisoned second lieutenants
in the infantry.
Lieutenant Alexander is the
son of Mrs. H. R. Alexander. Lieu
tenant Jaugstetter is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Jaugstetter,
and Lieutenant McGinn is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jerome
McGinn.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Funeral ser
vices for Thomas Francis Cashin,
retired Augusta merchant, who
died April 6, were held from St.
Patrick's Church, the Very Rev.
Leo M. Keenan officiating. Assist
ing in the sanctuary were the Rev.
Thomas A. Brennan, the Rev. J. E.
O'Donohoe, S. J., the Rev. George
Laugel, S. M. A., the Rev. James
E. Doherty, the Rev. John A. Mor
n's, all of Augusta, and the Rev.
Edward'Dodwell, of the Catholic
University of America.
Mr. Cashin was a native of
Augusta, the son of the late John
J. Cashin and Mrs. Mary Collins
Cashin, both of Ireland. His wife,
who was the former Miss Mary
O’Brien, of Charleston, died a
number of years ago.
Mr. Cashin is survived by four
daughters, Sister Mary Thomas,
of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Mrs.
E. Goodrich Weigle, Mrs. Vernon
C. Hester and Mrs. Charles S.
Bohler, Jr., all of Augusta; three
sons, Patrick O’Brien Cashin, of
Memphis; Harry F. Cashin, Wash
ington, D. C., and Lawrence F.
Cashin, Augusta, and eight grand
children.

aunts and uncles, a niece and a
nephew.

FUNERAL IN AUGUSTA
AUGUSTA, Ga. — Funeral ser
vices for Clyde Luther Lee, seven-
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Luth
er B. Lee, were held from the
Sacred Heart Church, the Rev. J.
E. O’Donohoe, S. J., officiating.
The child died on March 24 as
the result of injury sustained when
he was struck by a taxi-cab. In ad
dition to his parents, he is survived
by two brothers, Benjamin Charles
Lee and Thomas Joseph Lee; two
sisters, Mrs. Albenia McDonald
and Mrs. Helen Goodson, a grand

FUNERAL IN CHICAGO
AUGUSTA, Ga.—Funeral ser
vices for Dan Donohoe, former
Augustan, who died in Chicago,
were held in that city, April 13.
Mr. Donohoe, who was in the au
diting department of the Georgia
Railroad here before going to
Chicago, was widely known in
railroad circles. He has been
away from Augusta for about
twenty years.
He is survived by a brother,
Jack Donohoe, of Augusta; two
sisters, Mrs. Nellie White and
Miss Anne Donohoe, Atlanta.

vices for Mrs. Marie Mahoney
Egleston, who died April 15, were
held from St. Mary’s-on-The-Hill
Church, the Rev. Thomas A.
Brennan, officiating.
A life-long resident of Augus
ta, Mrs. Egleston was the
daughter of the late John J. Ma
honey and Mrs. Mary O’Connor
Mahoney. She was the wife of
DuBose Egleston, Sr., who sur
vives her. Other survivors are
two sons, Dr. DuBose Egleston,
Jr., Camp Shelby, Miss., and
Marion Egleston, New York
City; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie R.
Smith and Mrs. A. M. Delaney,
Jacksonville; a brother, John J.
Mahoney, Wildwood, Fla., and a
number of nieces and nephews.

vieve Katherine Smith, wife of
Harlow Smith, died April 8, fu

Smith is survived by three sis
ters, Mrs. Dorothy Blanding, Ro
chester, N. Y„ Mrs. Milton Schel-
gren, Jamestown, N. J., and Miss
Edna Ryan, Bradford, Pa., and
three brothers, Michael Ryan,
Lawrence Ryan and Patrick Rvan,
of Limestone, N. Y.

DIES IN DUBLIN

Elizabeth Duff, member of a wide-
ly known Johnson County family,
died April 4 here, funeral services
being held from the Immaculate
Conception Church with the Right
Rev. Monsignor T. James McNa
mara, of Savannah, and the Rev
L. L. Toups, S. J., of Dublin, of
ficiating.
Miss Duff is survived by two
sisters, Mrs. W. E. Page and Mrs.
C. H. Dixon, and two brothers, P
F. Duff and J. J. Duff, all of Dub
lin.

Edward Brennan, who was killed
in an airplane accident on April 1,
near Thomasville, were held from
the Sacred Heart Church. "

absolution, the Very Rev. Boniface
Bauer, O. S. B., and the Rev. Nor-
bert McGowan, O. S. B., assisting.
Among the attending clergy were

James McNamara, the Rev. Daniel
J Rouibc, the Rev. Gregory
Eichenlaub, O. S. B.. the Rev.
Brendan Dooley, O. S. B . the Rev.
Robert Brennan, O. S. B., all of
Savannah, the Rev. William J.
Hnrty, S. J., ot New Orleans, and
the Rev. P J. O’Conror of the
Catholic University of America
Washington, where Cadet Bren
nan had been a popular student.
Cadet Brennan, who was 21
years of age, enlisted in the air
corps last October. He had com
pleted two years at the Catholic
University of America, in Wash
ington, and before that had at
tended Marion Institute, Alabama,
and the Benedictine Military
School here.
He was stationed at Spence
Field, air corps training center at
Moultrie, and would have gradu
ated in May. His death occurred
when the plane in which he was
Hying developed engine trouble
and fell.
In addition to his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Edward C. Brennan,
Cadet Brennan is survived by' a
sister. Miss Lucy Brennan, and
two brothers, Edward Brennan
and Malcolm Brennai..
