Dublin Pastor Appointed
Auxiliary Chaplain of
Military Ordinariate

DUBLIN,_Ga.—The Rev, Nicho
las J. Frizelle, pastor of the Im
maculate Conception Church here,
has been appointed as an auxiliary
chaplain to serve in that capacity
at the 50th Training Detachment
of the United States Army Air
Force at Middle Georgia College,
located in Cochran. Father Fri-
zelle’s appointment, which was an
nounced by the Most Rev. John
F. O'Hara, C. S. C„ D. D.. Military
Delegate, also includes his serv
ing as chaplain at the United
States Naval Hospital soon to be
built in Dublin.

SAVANNAH, Ga. —Thomas
Canty, State Deputy of the
Knights of Columbus of Georgia,
has announced the appointment of
Joseph M. McDonough, of Savan
nah, as District Deputy for the
first district, and the appointment
of Lewis F. Gordon, of Atlanta,
as district deputy for the second
district of his jurisdiction.
Announcement has also been
made by State Deputy Canty of
the appointment of chairman of
the various committees of the
State Program of Progress: Catho
lic Activity, Hugh H. Grady, Sa
vannah; Program, A. J. Schano,
Savannah; Insurance, John J. Mc
Creary, Macon; Membership.

SAVANNAH USO-NCCS
SPONSORS PICNIC
SAVANNAH, Ga.—The working
wives of the USO-NCCS Women’s
Division took advantage of a re
cent Wednesday half-holiday to
enjoy a picnic at the Peckner
home at Isle of Hope, where they
enjoyed a swim, and then a buffet
supper.
The group, which was accompa
nied by Mrs. Rita Seay Aprea, di
rector of the local USO-NCCS
Women's Division, included Mrs.
James Donahue, Mrs. William
Strauss, Mrs. Henry Urban, Mrs.
William Johnson, Mrs. John Scaf-
fidi, Mrs. Raymond Lamonthe,
Mrs. Frank Marinko, Mrs. Charles
Payne, Mrs. Joseph Agnello, Mrs.
Frank Nasin, Mrs. William Larson
and Mrs. Richard Quinn.
The following week, Mrs. Aprea,
with another group, went to Sa
vannah Beach, where a picnic was
held at the home of Mrs. William
D. Prescott.
JOSEPH MULLARKY
Among the Augustans who
were in the midst of the heaviest
Tighting on Guadalcanal was Cpl.
Joseph A. Mullarky, son of Mrs.
Martha Mullarky and the late J.
A. Mullarky, members of St. Pat
rick's parish in Augusta. Corporal
Mullarky, who is serving in the
Coast Artillery, is a graduate of
Georgetown University. In a re
cent letter received from him he
mentions meeting Louis J. O'Con
nell and Julian Vaughan, two
other Catholics from Augusta,
both of whom are serving in the
U. S. Navy.
ST. JOSEPH S INFIRMARY
ATLANTA. TO ADMIT NEW
TRAINEE NURSES CLASS
ATLANTA, Ga. — St. Joseph's
Infirmary plans to admit a class
of nurse traines on- September 1.
Applicants must have had four
years of high school and ranged
preferably in the upper third of
their classes.
The hospital furnishes room,
board, and laundry. There 3re no
tuition charges. Expenses for the
first year are approximately $115.
