Ga. — All officers of the Female Orphan Benevolent Society, which operates St. Mary's Home, conducted by the Sisters of Mercy in Savannah, were re-elect ed at the annual meeting held on July 15. His Excellency the Most Rev. Gerald P. O’Hara, D. D., J. U. D„ Bishop of Savannah-Atlanta. con tinues as president of the Society, as does John W. Gleason. K. S. G., vice-president, and the Right Rev. T. James McNamara, rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, secretary-treasurer. Annual reports were submitted to the meeting, including a most satisfactory financial statement, which with^ other reports and the membership lists of living and de ceased members of the Society, ap pear elsewhere in this issue of The Bulletin. Girls at St. Mary’s Home, Savannah, Present Minstrel (Special to The Bulletin) SAVANNAH. Ga. — With a cast of forty singers, girls of St. Mary's Home presented a colorful minstrel show for service men at the USO- NCCS Club on'July 26. Dressed in costumes of patriotic colors, the girls sang both classical and popular songs. The stage was embellished with patriotic decora tions. with the American Flag as a background. Miss Leveta Felton wa# inter locutor, and the soloists were Miss es Theresa Slocum, Eva Usick, Catherine Evans, Harriet Crowley, Mary Masters and Juanita Barnes. The end-girls were Misses Edna Casey. Connie Casey, Heley Marie Crowley, Mary Ruth Lanierr Isa belle Pinckney and Louise May. Miss Patricia Barragan was the accompanist. Savannah Deanery NCCW Sponsors Red Cross Surgical Dressing Class (Special to The Bulletin) SAVANNAH, Ga. — The super visors of the Red Cross surgical dressing classes sponsored by the Savannah Deanery of the National Council of Catholic Women are Miss Mary McCarthy, Miss Mary Feuger, Miss Frances Morton, Mrs. Frances Winders, Miss Helen Roe Nugent, and Miss Rita Trapani. They were trained by Mrs. R. B. Wall, chairman of surgical dress ings of the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross, and Miss Henrietta Myers. The staff assistants are Miss Mary Hohenstein, Mrs. W. C. Broderick an3 Mrs. J. A. Altick. Mrs. John Lyons, Jr., president of the Deanery Council, is general chairman, with Mrs. W. C. Brode rick as co-chairman. Classes are held every Wednes day evening from 7:30 to 10 o'clock and Friday afternoon from 4 to 6 o'clock. Those who wish to join the class may do so by reporting at these hours to the Bishop's House, 222 East Harris Street. FATHER CUTHBERT FRAN CIS McDonald, o. s. b.. has | l)een elected Abbot of St. Bene , diet’s Abbey, Atchison, Kansas. During the past year Saint Mary's Home has cared for ninety- five children. Of these thirty-three have been provided with homes and occupations. Sixty-two are still at the Home. Both the Sisters and the child ren have been the recipients of many kindnesses from the clergy and the laity. To all we extend our sincerest thanks.
