their daughter, Miss Mary Ethel
Daniel, to Mr. John Paul Murhpy;
of the U. S. Coast Guard, on Feb
ruary 17, at St. Anthony’s Church
in Oakland.
Mrs. Murphy made her home in
Greenville for a number of years,
and attended St. Genevieve-on-the-
Pincs, Asheville. She has been
serving in the Volunteer Service
of the Coast Guard in Washing
ton, D. C.

MAJ. ROBERT GLICKERT
Robert Glickert, a member of
St. Mary’s-on-the-IIill parish, Au
gusta, Ga., has been promoted
from the rank of captain in the U.
S. Marine Corps to that of major.
At present, Major Glickert, the
son of Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Glickert,
is stationed at Quantico, Va., as an
instructor. He was one of the
first Marines to land with the in
vasion forces on Guadalcanal.

Patrick Walsh Council, Knights of
Columbus, received Holy Com
munion in a body at St. Mary’s-on-
The-Hill Church on Passion Sun
day. The Mass was celebrated by
the Very Rev. Thomas A. Brennan,
pastor of St. Mary’s, and chaplain
of the council, and the Rev. Angel
Pengson assisted in distributing
Communion.
Following the Mass, breakfast
was served in the parish hall, with
Grand Knight J. P. Price, presid
ing. Hugh Kinchley, executive sec
retary of the Catholic Laymen’s
Association of Georgia was the
principal speaker, and brief talks
were made by Father Brennan,
Coleman Dempsey, and Lieutenant
Lee Andrews, of Daniel Field.
The breakfast was prepared un
der the supervision of John Mc
Donald and was served by Mrs. Mc
Donald, Mrs. Dempsey, Mrs. Mar
ion Stulb, Mrs. James Mulherin,
Mrs. John T. Buckley, and Mrs.
William J. Mulherin, wives of
members of the council.
