After completing nearly two
years as assistant director of the
USO Club operated by the Nation
al Catholic Community Service in
Macon, Frank L. McDonough has
been appointed director of the
USO-NCCS Club in Hinesville, Ga.
Mr. McDonough, a native of Mil-
lis, Mass., was graduated from and
later taught at the University of
Connecticut. He came south to
become athletic director at the
high school in Batesburg, S. C.
For many years he was research
specialist for the U. S. Department
of Agriculture and for the Niagara
Chemical Company, and was elect
ed a fellow of the American Socie
ty for the Advancement of Science
of which he had long been a mem
ber.
During the first World War he
served as first sergeant of the 28th
Company, 7th Battalion, 151st De
pot Brigade, and was graduated
from officers training school at
Camp Devens, Mass.
Mr. McDonough has made his
home in Macon for a number of
Nurses’ Aide Corps in
Savannah Receive Caps

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Nineteen
members of the Red Cross Volun
teer Nurses’ Aide Corps received
their caps at exercises held at the
headquarters of the Savannah
Chapter of the American Red
Cross, with .Mrs. Carl Reitzel,
chairman of the Volunteer Nurses’
Aide Corps presiding.
Sister Mary Gloria, superintend
ent of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and
Sister Mary Graziana, director of
nursing at St. Joseph's, congratu
lated the nurses’ aides on the
completion of their course and
stressed the need in Savannah for
their services.
The new nurses’ aides are Mrs.
Will Artley, Jr., Mrs. Samuel B.
Strang, Mrs. E. W. Agee, Mrs. T.
C. Elliott, Mrs. Frank Oliver, Jr.,

Society of St. Joseph’s Church held
its annual breakfast meeting re
cently and elected the following of
ficers; A. A. Benedetto, president;
J. C. Garvin, secretary-treasurer,
and George Markwalter, J. V.
Sheridan and W. J. O'Shaughnessy,
consultors. The retiring officers
are Charles Le H. Adams, presi
dent, and Martin J. Callaghan, Jr.,
secretary-treasurer.

PAULIST PREACHES AT
FORTY HOURS DEVOTION
HELD IN AUGUSTA

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Rev
Basil Doyle, C. S. P., of the Paul-
ist Mission Band, Clemson, S. C. f
delivered a series of sermons on
the Blessed Sacrament at the Forty
Hours Devotion held at St. Mary's-
on-The-Hill Church here.
The devotions closed with a pro
cession and solemn benediction of
the Blessed Sacrament, with the
Rev. Joseph J. Malloy, of St. Pat
rick’s Church, as celebrant; the
Rev. Angel Pengson, of St. Mary’s,
and the Rev. Henry Honeck, of St.
Patrick’s, as deacon and subdeacon,
and with the Very Rev. Thomas A.
Brennan, V. F., pastor of St.
Mary’s, the Rev. Martin Killian. O.
P., assistant pastor, the Rev.
George Laugel, S. M. A., pastor of
the Imm»ulate Conception
Church; Chaplain John J. Jedlow-
ski, Chaplain. Raymond Vint and
Chaplain John Szot assisting in the
sanctuary.
Atlanta Cancer Home
to Receive Share of
Nationwide Campaign

ATLANTA, Ga.—Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Free Cancer
Home, conducted here by the
Sisters of St. Dominic of the
Congregation of St. Rose of Lima,
are to be alloted a share ol the
funds which will be collected
during the nation-wide campaign
of the Woman’s Field Army for
the Control of Cancer.
Of the funds which will be
raised in Atlanta, 25 percent will
be used nationally for research,
and 75 percent will remain in
Georgia to finance an educational
program and institutions such as
Our Lady of Perpetual.Help Home
which is a haven for the im
poverished victims of incurable
cancer.
