Father Orlemanski’s
Suspension Lifted
(By N. C. W. C. News Service)
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The Rev.
Stanislaus Orlemanski, priest of
this diocese whose faculties were
suspended by the Most Rev.
Thomas M. O’Leary, Bishop of
Springfield, when he absented
himself from his pastoral charge
without permission and made his
much-publicized journey to Soviet
Russia, has expressed regret for
his action.
In making known Father Orle-
manski’s apology, the Chancery
Office also announced that the
penalty of suspension was lifted.
“I regret my seeming disregard
f'dr the legislation and directives
of my church, and I hasten to apol
ogize for the lack of respect for ec
clesiastical authority which could
be inferred from my action,” Fath
er Orlemanski’s signed statement
said.
“It is now my fixed purpose and
promise to cease and separate my
self from all activities which are
not in accordance with the rules
and mind of jthe Catholic Church.
“I wish also" at this time to make
known that the Springfield Chan
cery Office notified me that my
message to the Apostolic Delegate,
which merely contained two ques
tions and answers already printed
in the press of the countrly, was
received at the Delegation and that
the message will be given due con
sideration and referred by the
Apostolic Delegate to the proper
church authorities.”
ON THE SAME lofty plane that
they carry their courageous fight
ing spirit, members of the Polish
Armed Forces bear an undying
fidelity to their Catholic faith.
Ninety per cent of the Poles fight
ing for the United Nations are
Catholics and the first thing they
do upon arrival at a new base is
to seek out the nearest Catholic
Church. At religious services, of
ficers and men sing in unison
Polish hymns adapted for the
various parts of the Mass and other
services.
