ATLANTA, Ga. — Miss Nell
Jentzen, of Atlanta, and Mr.
George Andrew Moltz, Jr., of
Richmond, Va., were married at
St. Anthony’s Church, Monsignor
Joseph Croke officiating.
Mrs. E. C. Brisbane, sister of
the bride, was her only attendant.
Garland Moltz, brother of the
groom, served as best man. Fol
lowing the ceremony a wedding
breakfast was served at the Bill-
more Hotel.
Mrs. Moltz is a daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. John Jeritzen.
She is a graduate of Mount St.
Joseph’s Academy, and received
a degree in music from the At
lanta Conservatory. For some
years a vice-president of the At
lanta Branch of the Catholic Lay
men’s Association of Georgia,
Mrs. Moltz had been active in the
work on that organization, the
National Council of Catholic
Women, and the Atlanta Catholic
Club of Business and Profession:

NEW BERN, N. C., — Father
Frederick A. Koch- who has been
assistant pastor of St. Patrick’s
Church, in Charlotte, for the last
lliree years, has been appointed
assistant pastor of St. Paul’s
Church, in New Bern, by the Most
Rev. Vincent S. Waters, D. D..
Bishop of Raleigh. Father Koch
will also serve as chaplain at St.
Luke’s Hospital, conducted here
by the Sisters of St. Joseph, of
Newark.
While in Charlotte, Father Koch
was especially active in work
among the young people. For a
time he was Scoutmaster of Boy
Scout Troop No. 8. He was in
structor in religion at the O’Dono-
ghue School and aided in direct
ing the recreational program for
(he students, lie also served as
Chaplain of Charlotte Council,
Knights of Columbus.
Father Koch is a native of
Scranton, Pa. He attended St.
Mary’s College, in Kentucky, and
completed his study for the priest
hood at Hie Suplician Seminary of
the Catholic University of America
in Washington. He was ordained
May 29. 1943, in the chapel of
Trinity College, in Washington, by
the most Rev. John McNamara,
Auxilary Bishop of Baltimore and
of Washington. His first Solemn
High Mass was celebrated at St.
John the Baptist Church, West
Scranton; an edifice which had
been designed and constructed by
his father, Theodore Koch, Scran
ton architect.
Father Koch's first assingment
as a priest of the Diocese of Ra
leigh was as assistant pastor of
St. Mary’s Church, Wilmington.

Miss Mary Ann Register, to Mr.
Nicholas George, on June 29, at

Father John A. Morris officiating
pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in
Charlotte.
Father Lynch was born in New
York City, March 4. 1917, the son
of Lieutenant Timothy Lynch, of
llie Police Department of New
York City, and Mrs. Margaret
O’Donnell Lynch- He attended
Fordham University. Mount St.
Mary’s Seminary and the Sulpi-
cian Seminary of the Catholic
University of America. He was or
dained, May 29, 1943, in Washing
ton, D. C.
Following his ordination he
served temporary assignments as
assistant pastor of SI. James
Church. Hamlet, Our Lady.of Per
petual Help Church, Rocky Mount,
and later during summer vacations
at oilier parishes in Hie Dipeese of
Raleigh. He has just completed a
post-ordination course at the
Catholic University of America,
where lie received his degree as
a Doctor of Canon Law.
Father Kells, a native of Brook
lyn, completed his study for the
priesthood at Our Lady of tlie An
gels Seminary, Niagara. N. Y. He
was ordained in 1944. His first as
signment in the Diocese of Ra
leigh was at the Infant of Prague
Church- Jacksonville, N. C. His
most recent assignment was as
resident chaplain at St. Gene-
vieve-of-the-Pines Junior College
and Academy. Asheville,
Three Marist Fathers
Leaving Atlanta for
South Sea Missions
ATLANTA, Ga—Three Marist
Fathers, the Rev. Charles J. Bar
rett, S. M., the Rev. Leonard J.
Moran, S. M., and the Rev. Thomas
B. Hogan, S. M., are leaving At
lanta for the South Sea Missions.
Father Barrett, a native of
Cleveland, was a member of the
faculty of Marist College here
from 1942 to 1944. After a year
at the Marist Scholatisticate in
Washington, D. C., he returned to
Atlanta for the past school year,
teaching Spanish and history
classes.
Father Moran, who was ordain
ed a year ago, spent his first
year in the priesthood teaching
commercial subjects at Marist
College. He is an expert in the
field of stenography and typing.
As a token of their esteem, mem
bers of his classes have present
ed him with a censer and a Mis
sal which ho will take with him
to the Islands.
Father Hogan, a native of Chi
cago, spent only a few months at
Hie Sacred Heart Church here.
Soon after his ordination last year,
he was appointed assistant pastor
of St. Vincent de Paul’s Church,
Elm Grove, W. Va., and in recent
months served as assistant pastojfj
at the Sacred Heart Church herd.
All three of the priests who arfl
going to the South'Pacific - as mis-i
sionaries were students at St.
Mary’s Manor, South Langhorne,
Pa. After completing theif
courses at the Preparatory Semj-
inary, all made their novitiates
at the Marist Novitiate. Princes’
Bay,' Staten Inland, N. Y. Upon
making their professions as
Marists, after a year at the
novitiate, ihe’fylanst §cholasticata
in Washington,' D. 1 C., where they
were ordained by Bishop Michael
J. Keyes, S. M.. D. D., formerly
of Savannah.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Miss Jane
Elizabeth Peckner, daughter of
Theodore Peckner. of Savannah,
and Mr., Irving William Drought
of Janesville, Wis., were married
with a Nuptial Mass on July 10 in
the Chapel of Our Lady of Good
Hope, at Isle of Hope, Father Ter
ence Kernah, O. S.-B„ officiating,
with Father Boniface Bauer, O. S.
B., and Father Paul Milde, O. S.
P„ assisting.
The territory in which they will
work includes Bougainville, New
Guinea, and Guadalcanal, and is
under the jurisdiction of Bishop
Thomas J. Wade, S. M„ Vicar
Apostolic of the North Solomons,
who is also Military Delegate for
all American military forces in
the South Sea area. About a
dozen more Marists from various
parts of the United States will
work in this field.
Every mission in the area was
destroyed by the Japanese in
vaders, and two missionary priests
and two nuns on Guadalcanal were
killed by the Japs because they
refsued to assist in leading thS
American forces in an ambush.
During the war. the Japanese
devastated the islands, and Father
Barrett, Father Moran and Father
Hogan wil spend much of their
time rebuilding the ruined work
of almost a century of mis
sionary labor.
Father Arthur Duhamel. one of
the Marist missioners who was
bayonetted by the Japanese, visit
ed Atlanta not long before he
left this country for the South
Pacific.
A Marist brother, Joseph Red
mond. of Savannah, was acciden
tally killed by an American bomb
wliihc exploded in a concentra
tion camp where he was being
held prisoner by the Japanese.
SISTER M^RY LUCY of the
Dolors, sole surviving members of
the three “Seers of Fatima-” was
present at the recent Coronation
of Our Lady of Fatima in Portu
gal on the occasion of the 29th
anniversary of the first apparition
and the 300th anniversary of Por
tugal's dedication to the Immacu
late Conception.
