striking contrast to some of the
editorial comment in other
secular newspapers.

It would be hard to imagine a
situation more ironical than that
of Poland, acting as Russian
stooge to propose to the United
Nations Security Council an action
which has as its design the over
throw of the Spanish government
and the turning over the country
to the Communists.
Poland is one of the strongest
of Europe's Catholic countries,
and the voice of Dr. Lange, the
Polish delegate, is not the voice
of Poland but the voice of Rus
sia. into whose hands Poland in
her attempt to avoid the aggres
sions of Hitler, fell by the fortunes
of war.
The Catholic Church, .whose
religion is the religion of Poland,
is certainly not intent on seeing
the Catholic country of Spain
thrown into the hands of godless
Communism. Communism is at
open war with all religion, de
claring it to be the ‘‘opium of the
people”.
Atheism is the religion of Com
munism, and every Communistic C|r,-./otpH tn*FnisronaCV
stooge, in this land or abroad, is ; M /aTea ID CpiM>U|JdOy
the enemy of all religion. This
fact is kept in the darjs here lor
expedient reasons, and here the
friends of the Russian way play
down Russia’s blatant anti-relig-
is designed for- no other purpose
than to forward the Red invasion
of the world, which has been the
unaltered plan of Communism
since it seized Russia at the end
of World War I.
Russia has show.r how with her
veto power she can thwart all at
tempts at pacification of the
world, and how she can keep burn
ing the fires of revolution, in
which fires she hopes to forge
the fetters of the world.
She recognizes the Catholic
Church as the strongest of her
opponents in the moral field, and
she has more than once denounced
the Pope and even charged him
with being a Fascist. She is well
aware of the feuds and frictions
which split Christianity and is
intent on pouring oil on the fires
of these feuds. \yanting to see
Christianity divided in its own
house.
Russia has rejected the plan for
atomic control proposed by Ber
nard M. Baruch. She will reject
any plan we purpose. She has
her own plans and will hear no
oilier. For a year now she has
stymied all attempts at world
agreement. She wil have no peace
that is not a Communist peace.
Her plan should no be plain to
any person with any faculty for
reflection. The grandiose scheme
of Communism against the world
is visible to all seeing eyes. The
Chinese Communists now say that
America is to blame for the failure
of peace in China. Moscow has
long charged that we and the Brit- j
ish are 1o blame for the failure of
oeacc in Europe. The Russians
have a great advantage over us.
The Russians have a plan.

Here' the Communist atheism is
hid beneath euphemisms. The Po

love to call themselves advanced

they denounce such true dem
