N B. (I) Any special holiday or half-holiday de
clared for the Public Schools of a locality may be observed,
if the pastor so directs, by the Catholic Schools of that lo
cality. Pastors may grant two holidays within the school
year. The granting of additional holidays is contrary to
Diocesan School Regulations and impairs the proper ob
servance of the school program. If a holiday, other than
set forth should be declared, permission for the same must
be obtained in writing from the Superintendent’s Office.
N. B. (II) To maintain STANDARDIZATION it is .
absolutely essential that classes be in session not iless than
175 days, exclusive of holidays, and that a school day con
sists of not less than five hours, exclusive of recesses and
lunch periods.

AUGUSTANS MARK 50TH
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
AUGUSTA. Ga.—Mr. and Mrs.
Stephen Hogan, members of St.
Mary’s-on-the-Hill parish, cele
brated the fiftieth anniversary of
their marriage on July 6.
Formerly of Norfolk, Va., Mr.
Hogan and Mrs. Hogan, who be
fore her marriage was Miss Julia
Newstead, came to make their
home in Augusta about thirty
yea*s ago.
Joining with them in their
Golden Wedding annivei'sary cele
bration were their four children,
Mrs. LeGarde S. Doughty, Mrs.
Norman Boatwright,* George Ho
gan and William Hogan, their
grandchildren, and other relatives
and friends.
