the Cathedral of St. John the |
Baptist here, has been appointed
pastor of the Immaculate Con
ception Church, in Dublin, ac
cording to an announcement made
by Monsignor Joseph E. Moylan,
Vtcar General of the Diocese of
Savananh-Atlanta. •
Father Dpnovan was born in
Little Falls, N. Y., on April 14,
1910. Ihe son of John J. Donovan,
and Mrs. Margaret Johnson Don
ovan. He attended St. Mary’s Pa
rochial School and St. Mary's
High School, in Little Falls, la
ter entering the Catholic Univer
sity of America, where he receiv
ed his A. B. degree in 1940. He
completed three years of Ins the
ological study at the Catholic
University, and the fourth year at
St. Bernard’s Seminary. Roches
ter. N. Y. He was ordained to the
priesthood, in Rochester, on July
1, 1944.
Coming to Savannah shortly af
ter his ordination. Father Dono
van served as assistant rector of
the Cathedral and for a short
time as assistant pastor of (he
Blessed Sacrament Church. He
served as instructor in Religion at
the Cathedral School here.
