lumbus. held at The Town Tavern.
Father Andrew, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. T P -Doris, of Augusta,
was ordained to the priesthood in
May of this year. Since his ordi
nation. he has been serving St.
John the Evangelist Church, Val
dosta, in the absence of the pastor.
Father John J. Kennedy,'who has
just returned from a trip to Ire
land. Upon Father Kennedy’s re
turn to Valdosta, Father Andrew
came to A igusta to visit his par
ents and to serve temporarily as
assistant pastor of Our Lady of
Peace Church, North Augusta,
The First Friday Club, organiz
ed some months ago by member
of Patrick Walsh Council, is opei
to all' Catliolie men of the city

receive-Holy Communion on theej
first Friday of each month, in !
their own parish churches, and to

OBSERVES SILVER JUBILEE

geris, of the Missionary Sisters of
the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
observed the twenty-fifth anni
versary of her solemn profession
as a Religious on the Feast of the
A. sumption.
A special Mass was celebrated
hi commemoration of Sister Lud-
geris’ silver jubilee, and for her
intention, on August 16, in the
chapel of St:. Mary’s Hospital, by
Father Robert Brennan, pastor of
St. Joseph’s Church.
The chapel was decorated with
a profusion of flowers, given to
Sister Ludgeris by her host of
frineds in Athens, where she is
tlie nurse in charge of the oper-
aling room at St. Mary’s Hospital.

HEARS TALK ON IRELAND

J. Kennedy, pastor of SI. John
the Evangelist Church, recently
returned from a visit to iiis na
tive ireland, discussed present
day conditions in Eire* before
members of the Valdosta Rotary
Club.
Father Kennedy reported that
Ireland bears lew, if any, marks
from‘World War II He said that
lie found tliai relations between
Ireland and England were far
more friendly than in former
years, and that a mutual feeling
of tolerance and respect has re
placed the animosity or tlie past.

Mr. Wolff, immediate past
grand knight of Bishop P. N.
Lynch Council. Kniglifs of Co
lumbus, was attending a parly at
the Isle of Palms, given in his
honor by the local K. of C council,
when he was stricken witli a fatal
heart attack.
Born in Philadelphia, December
26, 1892. Mr. Wolff was the son of
Paul E. Wolff, of Germany, and
Mrs. Elizabeth Cummings Wolff, of
England. He had made his home in
Charleston for the last thirty
years.
During the first World War, Mr.
Wolff served in I lie Army, and
lie was a member of the American
Legion. He was a fourth degree
member of the Knights of Co
lumbus, and headed Bishop Lynch
Council here, as grand knight, dur
ing the year that ended June 30.
! Mr. Wolff is survived by his
wife, the former Miss Bertha K.
Keenan: a daughter. Miss Mary
Elizabeth Wolff, both of Charles
ton; three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Fer-
rin, Nev, York, Mrs. David Jacobs
and Mrs. Joseph Beckman, both of
Philadelphia, and several nieces
and nephews.

O'Connor iias a wide circle of
friends in Augusta where she had
made her home for more than thir
ty years.
She is survived by five nieces,
Miss Gertrude Richards, Miss
Irene Richards, Miss Grace Rich
ards, Mrs. Margaret Woodward
and Miss Nora O'Connor, all of
Yonkers; two nephews, Vincent
Richards and Joseph Richards,
and a sister-in-law, Mrs. William
F. O’Connor, also of Yonkers, and
two cousins. Mrs. T. P. Doris and
Mrs. P. J. Vaughan, of Augusta.

DIES IN SAVANNAH

vices for John B. Broderick, re
tired member of the Savannah Po
lice Department, who died July 24,
were held at the Sacred Heart
Church.
Mr. Broderick is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Mary Aranda Brod

Okens, Mrs. V. T. Jir'an, Mrs. L.
R. Wall, Mrs. E. L Smith, and

the memory of Mr. Broderick, and
those present at Police Court on

in silent prayer for the deceased
police officer.
