DIES IN SAVANNAH
SAVANNAH, Ga.—Funeral ser
vices lor John M. McBride, who
died August 4. were held from the
Sacred Heart Church.
Mr. McBride was a charter
member of Savannah Council, No.
631, Knights of Columbus, and
for some years has been an hon
orary life member. He was also
one of tile organisers of the Cath
olic Knights of America in Savan
nah.
One of Savannah’s oldest paint
ing contractors, Mr. McBride es
tablished his business in 1883. He
is, remembered by many for his
splendid voice which was often
heard in local church choirs.
Mr. McBride is survived by his
vife, Mi's. Margaret T. McBride;
three daughters. Miss Catherine
McBride, Miss Margaret McBride
and Miss Cecilia McBride, all of
Savannah; lour sons. John M. Mc
Bride. Jr.. Michael J. McBride.
Bernard E. McBride and Edward
McBride, all of Savannah, and
two grandchildren, Miss Rosemary
McBride and Edward C. McBride,
Jr.
CHARLES ROBERT MABEL
FUNERAL IN ATLANTA
ATLANTA, Ga. — Funeral ser
vices for Charles Robert Mabel,
formerly of Atlanta and Stone
Mountain, who died August 8. in
Baltimore, were held at Ihc Sacred
Heart Church. Father John Em-
merlh, S._M.. officiating.
Formerly in the granite busi
ness, Mr. Mabel lived at Stone
Mountain from 1938 to 1939. Dur
ing tlio war years; lie was a ma
chinist at the Bell Bomber Plant
in Marietta.
Mr. Mabel is survived by his
wife, the former Miss Nee Mela
nie Nocinger, of Now Orleans; a
daughter, Mrs. H. E. Mackay, of
Baltimore; a son. Dan P. Mabel,
New Orleans; a sister. Mrs. Felix
Peytral, New Orleans, and a
brother, Harry Mabel, of New
Orleans.

retired Atlantic Coast Line Rail
road engineer, who died August
11. were held at St. Joseph’s
Church, Father John H. Hillmann,
S. M., officiating.
Mr. Thayer is survived by his
wife; a daughter, Mrs. A. E.
Young, of Fort Valley; a son,
•Francis Thayer, Louisville, Ky.;
two step-daughters, Mrs. Sam T.
Wright, Waycross, and Mrs. Dal
ton .L. Hawn. Jacksonville; a sis
ter. Mrs. Horace S. Rossier, Jack
sonville; two brothers, Albert
Thayer, Jacksonville, and John
Thayer, Statesboro.

DIES IN CHARLESTON
CHARLESTON. S. C.—Funeral
services for Henry Holbrook
Ridgeway, retired real estate and
insurance dealer, who died July
31, were held at St. Joseph's
Church.
Mr., Ridgeway is survived by
two daughters, a granddaughter,
and a great-granddaughter.
