A slim little paper-covered vol
ume that is a gem of spiritual wis
dom; an explanation of the three
fold apostolate that is captivating
in its simplicity.
If you've ever wondered just
why it is that “whatsoever you do
for the least of tiiese, you do for
Me”—or more probably, since they
are less obvious, why the aposto-
lates of prayer and of suffering
are so particularly efficacious—
here is an answer much more sat
isfying than Ihe usual provocative
sketch which only makes you
wonder the more.
Have your friends, for instance,
challenged you about the merits
of the contemplative life? (Quite
likely, since the Trappists created
such a stir in Georgia.) “They
have every right to live that life—
but what good does it do anyone
eles besides themselves?” “Pray
er must be accompanied by action
—our prayers ordinarily lead us
to DO things for the people we
pray for.” You've heard such ar
guments, of course, and perhaps
felt your answers most inadequate,

ones found in most prayeriiooks);
