tional Council of Catholic Women,

ter, 1325 Greene Street, at noon

vations for transportation are be
ing made through Mrs. William

Mardi Gras celebration to be spon
sored by the Deanery Council here
on February 9 and 10.

STUDENTS OF ST. VINCENT
ACADEMY IN SAVANNAH
ENTERTAIN ALUMNAE
SAVANNAH, Ga.—The Decem
ber meeting of the Alumnae Asso
ciation of St. Vincent Academy
was enlivened by the presentation
of a one-act playet, “No Room In
the Inn,” written by two members
of the sophomore class, Miss Mar-
get Smith and Miss Sally Ann
Blackburn.
The scene of the playlet was an
inn at Bethlehem, and the time,
the first Christmas Eve night.
The cast included Misses Shir
ley Ann Mason, Patricia Walsh,
Katlilyn Ryan, Josephine Rode-
wolt, Charms Loncon, Mary Daily,
Joan Gross, Betty Bremer and the
school choir.
NEW HAVEN, Coim. — Even
though it has just been announc
ed, the new radio series on
“Foundations of Our American
Ideals,” produced by the Knights
of Columbus, is receiving enthu
siastic response, while orders for
the set of transcriptions are ar
riving at the office of the Supreme
Council here in gratifying num
bers.
Councils which already have
regular radio periods of fifteen
minutes or more will find the new
series a welcome addition for their
programs. Each of the six plays in
the series is fourteen and one-half
minutes long and allows time for
local identification. Every play is
a complete unit with announcer,
narrator, actors, sound and music,
all elements of which have been
cleared with the proper authori
ties. All persons in the playlets
are experienced technicians in
their own fields thus assuring the
sponsoring Council and the stat
ion a program witli the highest
professional standards.
The three records with the six
plays are supplied without cost to
the sponsoring Council and co
operating broadcaster.
These are not superficial plays
of the “soap opera" type. They are
the fascinating results of long and
deep research into rare historical
records not available to all stud
ents. Any citizens will be a better
American for knowing these facts
about our ideals.

FIRST FRIDAY CLUB
MEETS IN AUGUSTA
(Special to The Bulletin)
SAVANNAH, Ga. — An eleven-
week series of inquiry classes,
aimed at giving the public a word
picture of the Catholic Church
and its teachings, was inaugurated
on January 8 at the parish hall ol
the Church of the Nativity of Our
Lord, at Thunderbolt.
Father John A. Morris, pastol
of the parish, who will conduct
the classes, began the series with
a discussion of the topic: "How
Am I Related to God?"
Father Morris said the series is
an innovation in the field of reli-
gious lectures, as heretofore, it
was generally tile custom to im
part Information about the Churcfr
in a course of private instructions.
Tliis series, he said, makes i(
possible for anybody who is in
terested to attend. “By attending
litis class you are not -making any
commitment as to joining Hie
Church,” he added. “This is an in
quiry class, not a convert class.”
Classes will be held on Thurs
day evenings for -thirteen weeks.
SEES LITURGICAL TREND
IN NON-CATHOLIC CHURCHES
AUGUSTA, Ga.—The First Fri
day Club of Patrick Walsh Coun
cil, Knights of Columbus, held its
regular luncheon meeting on
January 2, at the Town Tavern,
with Hugh Kinchley, executive
secretary of the Catholic Laymen’s
Association of Georgia, as the
guest speaker. Paul R. Hayes,
grand knight of Patrick Walsh
Council, presided.
BOSTON — (RNS) — Scarcely a
single major domination can to
day be called non-iiturgical, ac
cording to Dr. Roger Hazclton, pro
fessor of philosophy and ethics al
Andover Newton Theological
School here. He said the “trend
toward more formal worship oi
greater historic content had touch
ed them all.”
Speaking at a course on “Recent
Trends in Religious Thought”, Dr.
Hazelton asserted that “the cas
ualness, eccentricity and even
crudity which used to be evident
are fast disappearing. The newer
church buildings in American are
not theaters or meeting houses;
they are structures which proclaim
their religious purpose.”
