Pope Pius X was awarded first
prize in Group II in the recent
contest sponsored by the Savan
nah-Atlanta Diocesan Council of
Catholic Women.

at-arms.
Chosen as members of the exec
utive committee were Pat Dillon.
Miss Barbara Sascen and Sonny
East.
Reports of the various commit
tees were heard and Mrs. Frank
Morris was appointed chairman of
the committee to arrange for an
all-day outing at Mosher's place.
The meeting was opened with
prayer by Father John Gallagher,
acting spiritual director of the
C. Y. P. A.

cessful May festival was given by
members of Our I-ady’s Aid Soci
ety of the Church of the Holy
Family on the campus of St.
Joseph’s School,
The afternoon carnival for the i
children was well attended and the
young guests enjoyed pony rides,
miniature automobile rides, pic j
walks, the fishing pond and other ’
games, along with the inevitable;
enjoyment of ice cream and cake
and soft drinks.
In the evening a barbecue sup
per was served for the grown folks. I
at the K. of C. Home, and more I
than four hundred persons gather- '
ed about the attractively decorat* i
ed tables to partake of Brunswick ■
stew and the other delightful items ;
on the bountiful menu.
Mrs. Leo Leonard was general
chairman of the committee in
charge, and among those assisting

Picnic Given Pupils of
Parochial School
ALBANY, Ga.—The annual pic
nic for the pupils of St. Theresa's
School was held at Radium
Springs, May 25. the three hundred
attending including parents,
brothers and sisters of the pupils
and the school’s teaching staff.
Mrs. J. D. Paulk, Jr., was gen
eral chairman of the committee in
charge, with Mrs. Thomas Cole
man, Mrs. Edward S. Armstrong,
Mrs. Charles Schroeder, Mrs. John
Ross, Mrs, C. R. Davis. Jr., and
Mrs, Dermot Shemwell assisting.
Swimming and other amuse
ments were enjoyed, and a bounti
ful picnic lunch was served.

WIN HIGHEST HONORS IN
SAVANNAH ESSAY CONTEST
SAVANNAH, Ga.—Elizabeth
Wolfe, eighth grade student at the
Cathedral School, won both the lo
cal and state prizes in an essay
contest sponsored by the United
Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary,
on the subject “In What Way Did
the Spanish-American War Estab
lish Humanitarian Principles?”
Second prize for the state went
to Joan Sullivan, eighth grade stu
dent at Blessed Sacrament School.
AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP

year scholarship to Webster Col
lege, conducted by the Sisters of
Loretio, at Webster Groves, Mis
