Korean .War Veterans
Will Be Accepted by
Belmont Abbey College
BELMONT, N. C —Father Ber
nard L. Rosswog, O. S. B., rec
tor of Belmont Abbey College,
has announced that the Abbey will
accept Korean war veterans upon
high school graduation, or its
equivalent, the G. E. D. tests,
which may be taken through the
Veterans Administration or at Bel
mont Abbey College upon request.
The cost of a veteran's education
for the nine-month academic year,
which started this month, will be
$298.50, which includes registra
tion, tuition and fees, but does not
include books, the cost of which
will vary with the curriculum
chosen, or science laboratory,
which is not taken by freshman
students except science majors and
pre-engineering students. Thus,
the average veteran student can
obtain a college education for
about $33 per month.
The new G. I. Bill provides for
a payment of $110 a month to the
single veteran; $135 a month to the
veteran with one dependent, and
$160 a month to the veteran with
two or more dependents. These
amounts are to cover both subsis
tence and school expense.
The veteran must be accepted
first at the college and then apply
tor his G. I. benefits from the lo
cal Veterans Administration office
or to the regional office of the
Veterans Administration iti Win
