Message From Your
National President
Stimulation of committee work
has been great this year. The west
and southwest in particular were
benefited by the national conven
tion and the regional conference
in Fresno.
Now to the eastern, southern,
central, and even the western
area around Colorado, N. C. C. W.
offers another opportunity. Com
mittee institutes are planned for
August and early ; September in
five sections of the country: Man-
hattanville College of the Sacred
Heart, Purchase, N. Y.; Sacred
Heart College, Belmont, N. C.; St,
Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind.; College
of St. Teresa, Winona, Minn.; and
Loretto Heights College, Loretto,
Colo, I urge our diocesan councils
and affiliated organizations to give
serious consideration to sending
representatives to these important
study days. The institutes are open
to committee leaders on all levels.
Plan now 7 to come and get your ap
plication in early as space is limit
ed.
To aid you in summer planning
for next year’s committee work,
we offer in this issue of Monthly
Message program suggestions for
nine national committees. The
next issue will carry suggestions
for the remaining nine committees.
May the summer prove a fruitful
planning season!

Diocesan Council
President's Message
In this my first monthly message
as Diocesan President, I make a
sincere appeal to all the Catholic
women in Georgia to approach the
tasks confronting us with renewed
zeal and energy. The best interests
of our Church and of our state will
continue to prosper if the work of
our organization goes, on uninter
rupted by the usual summertime
let-down.
While it may be a slack season
in some places the Board of Di
rectors of the Diocesan Council
will meet June 23 in Macon to af
ford the committee chairmen the
opportunity to present plans of ac
tion for the coming year.
They will so plan to coordinate
the spiritual and corporal works
of mercy of the local groups with
the work of the Diocesan and Na
tional groups that the individuality
of the smallest group will he re
tained with the result that the
Parrish Councils throughout the
four Deaneries of the Diocese will
develope into active working or
ganizations.
My special appeal at this time
is to Parish Council Presidents.
I would ask that they make a sin
cere and determined effort to en
list the cooperation of each and
every parish society and of each
and every woman in their respec
tive parishes. We draw all of our
strength from the parish society.
A great' field of opportunity for
enhancing the spread of our faith
lies before us, especially here in
the state of Georgia. There must
be many laborers in the vineyard
but the harvest will be great. Our
Lady of Good Council will be with
us and will see to this.
Remember the slogan of the
year “Pray and work.”

LAST YEAR, 95.6 per cent of all
babies born in Austria were bap
tized as Catholics. This was inter
preted by Catholic authorities as
showing that while many Aus-
trains may be described as lapsed
Catholics or as having explicitly
renounced their Faith, they still
want their children to be mem
bers of the church. *
