FATIMA BISHOP
GIVES OPINION
OF 1960 SECRET
WASHINGTON, N. J. — The
Fatima Secret, to be opened in
1960, may contain one of two
things, according to the Bishop
of Fatima, it is revealed in a
copyrighted article to appear
next week in SOUL Magazine,
the official publication of the
Blue Army of Our Lady of Fa
tima. .
“The secret may contain some
thing entirely spiritual,” the ar
ticle will reveal the Bishop to
have said in a recent interview
with the Blue Army National
Commander, John M. Haffert, a
frequent visitor of the Bishop of
Fatima, who has twice had leng
thy interviews with Sister Mary
of the Immaculate Heart (Lucia)
the only living one of the three
Fatima visionaries.
The bishop, the Most Rev. Cor
reia Alves da Silva, voluntarily
brought up the subject of the se
cret during his most recent visit,
Haffert writes.
In writing of the secret in pre
vious issues of the magazine, Haf
fert said: “The secret was reveal
ed to the children (who saw the
visions at Fatima) on July 13,
1917. It had three parts. Two
were made known after Our Lady
appeared to Lucia on December
19, 1925, requesting propagation
of devotion to Her Immaculate
Heart.
“One part was a prophesy of
the second World War, the time
of which would be known by a
strange light in the sky. And on
the night of January 24-25, 1938,
Lucia saw this light (which also
was seen throughout most of Eu
rope) and she wrote to the Bishop
of Fatima telling him that she
thought this illumination (which
newspapers suggested might be a
form of the aurora borealis was
the light ‘about which I spoke to
You> Excellency’.
“Three months later, Hitler’s
armies marched into Austria.
Within a year, World War II was
raging.”
Haffert continued: “The second
part of the secret was the pro
phesy: ‘If my requests are heard,
Russia will be converted and
there will be peace. If not, terror
will spread from Atheist Russia
through the entire world, the
good will be persecuted; the Holy
Father will suffer much; several
entire nations will be annihila
ted.’
“Two parts of the secret have
been made known; it is only a fi
nal part which is still withheld
.... in a sealed envelope with
instructions (in , Lucia’s hand
writing) that it is not to be open
ed until 1960.
“The secret will be opened in
1960 by the Bishop of Fatima, if
he is still living. Should the
Bishop of Fatima die before 1960,
the Cardinal Patriarch of Portu
gal will open it.
“Gradually ... all the world is
becoming increasingly curious
about the contents of that letter.
This must be Our Lady’s plan.
But he final purpose must be—
to move us to act NOW, with
hope, with the sureness that she
is with us, but echoing through
her assurance of Russia’s con
version the heartrending fact that
due to our apathy, “So many
souls are lost.”
The Blue Army which Haffert
heads is a crusade with over
5,000,000 members in 33 countries,
dedicated to the conversion ' of
Russia and world peace through
the Fatima message. SOUL Mag
azine is published at Blue Army
National Headquarters, Ave Ma
rie Institute, Washington, New
Jersey.
