THE BULLETIN OF THE CATHOLIC LAYMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA
SEVEN
Annual Meeting Held
At St. Mary's Home
SAVANNAH, Ga. — In atten
dance on the Annual Meeting of
the Female Orphan Benevolent
Society, Inc., (Saint Mary’s
Home, Savannah,) were the fol
lowing members of the Advisory
Board: Messrs. John G. Butler,
Hugh H. Grady, Wm. H. Sexton,
C. F. Powers, Walter B. Mur
phy, and James H. McKenna.
Also in attendance were His Ex
cellency, Bishop Hyland, who
presided, and Mr. John W. Glea
son, Vice-President and Treas
urer and Monsignor T. James
McNamara, Secretary and the
following Lady-Collectors, Mrs.
Joseph E. Kelly and Mrs. Wal
ter M. Crawford.
The Board expressed itself as
particularly pleased with the
management of Saint Mary’s
Home and by a motion, duly
made and seconded, was high
in its praise of the efficiency and
economical manner with which
the affairs of the Home are con
ducted by Sister Mary Felice,
H.S.M., Superior and her com
munity of Sisters of the Sisters
of Mercy of the Union. In spite
of diminishing income from be
nefactors and bequests, the re
ports gave conclusive evidence
that Saint Mary’s Home could
compare more than favorably
with institutions of a similar
nature. It was remarked by the
Board Members how seldom now
in contrast to the past bequests
are made to the Society and it
was observed if only now there
were more in the traditions of
the past, who would remember
the little ones of Saint Mary’s
Home in their wills, how much
more secure the future of the
Home could be established.
Immediately following
adjournment of the Annual
meeting, the Advisory Board met
to meet the legal requirements
of the Corporation. At this meet
ing, His Excellency, Bishop Hy
land announced the re-appoint
ment of existing Board Members
and officers of the Corporation.
The following Committees were
also announced by the Bishop:
Finance, Messrs. Murphy, Grady
and Sexton; Real Estate, Messrs.
McKenna, McCarthy, and Butler.
