WDAK-TV, COLUMBUS, PRESENTS N.C.C.M. SERIES “WE BELIEVE” COLUMBUS, Ga.—We Believe, a new series of thirteen films on what Catholics believe, is now be ing' telecast over Station WDAK- TV at 10 p. m. We Believe, pro duced by The National Council of Catholic Men, is the first series of its kind to be produced by an of ficial agency of the Church. It features the Rev. James J. Mc- Quade, S. J., of John Carroll Uni versity, Cleveland, Ohio. Father McQuade makes liberal use of visual aids, props, simple illustra tions, and amusing stories to make his non-contifoversial programs in teresting and entertaining to all ages and all levels of education, to Catholics and non-Catholics alike. It was in the religion classes at John Carroll University that Fath er McQuade began to experiment in the use of visual aids, and un usual “gimmicks” to stimulate and simplify his talks. Word of his de lightfully entertaining, yet effec tively instructive classes, spread rapidly and Father became one of the most popular professors on the campus. In reference to the We Believe series in which he explains the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Faith, Father McQuade says, “I’m not going to prove on this program that the Catholic Church is the right church. I will give a simple presentation of information from a scientific, not controversial, viewpoint. The Popular Jesuit sees a natural interest to non- Catholic as well as Catholic in such programs on the Church. “If nothing else, Catholicity is a tre mendous social phenomenon with 400 million human beings in volved. Father McQuade entered the Order in 1924 and studied at St. Stanislaus in Florissant, Missouri and Loyola University, Chicago, before receiving BA and MA de grees at St. Louis University. His theological studies took him to the Divinity School of St. Louis University where he receiv ed the degree of Licentiate in Sa cred Theology in 1938. He was or dained in St. Mary’s College, St. Mary’s, Kansas. “I’m putting into a total of 6% hours what took me 15 years to learn,” was the way Father ex pressed his most difficult problem —that of selecting and condensing material for the film series. In the fourth program Over Channel 28 this Thursday Father McQuade will discuss -what Cath olics believe about Christ. SALE’S SHOE SHOP 3988 PEACHTREE RD.
