APRIL 28, 1956. THE BULLETIN OF THE CATHOLIC LAYMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA THREE. VIEWS OF OUR SPECIAL CHAIRMEN By Rev. Andrew A. Walls, S.M., Pas-tor, Si. Joseph's Parish, Auditing Chairman,, Marietta: The “tremendous growth with in our state is a great challenge and opportunity for all of us to further the, vital and important work which has been outlined to us by our Bishop and the oth er leaders of this campaign. Let us show that the endowment of our fathers has not been in vain and that we are also willing to make personal sacrifices for the continued growth of the Church. James E. King, Pas tor, St. Anthony's Parish, Meet ings Chairman, Atlanta: The success of our fund cam paign will relieve some of the terrific pressure on present high school facilities. It will mean that hundreds of boys and girls will have a Catholic education who today are deprived of this privilege because of lack of classroom space. By Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph G. Cassidy, V.F., Pastor, Co-Cathed- ral Christ the King Parish, Special Gifts Chairman, Atlanta: No parent wants to see his or her children, or any other per son’s children, miss the point as to. why God put them on earth. Neither does any sound-minded individual want to see a child deprived of the training needed to earn a living. That is why you and I want bigger an(f bet ter Catholic high schools. No sacrifice is too great for this purpose. Rev. Thomas A. Brennan, Pastor, Blessed Sacrament Par ish, Meetings. Chairman Savan nah: Under the guidance of Almigh ty God and the administration of our Bishop, the Church has gone forward in this diocese. It is a privilege to endorse the parochial and diocesan develop ment program which will furth er the cause of Catholicism in the state of Georgia. By Rev. John J. Cuddy, Holy Family Parish, Special Gifts Chairman, Columbus: It is essential that his Excel lency, the Bishop, be in a posi tion to cope with the rapidly growing Catholic population of this area by acquiring sites for future parish churches and schools, and that he be able to expand and improve existing in stitutions in all parishes. All of these things can be accomplished if each of us Pray, Work, and Give on a “Fair Share” basis. By Rev. John D. Toomey, Sacred Heart Parish, Publicity Chairman, Milledgeville: I think this is the opportunity for all Catholics in the Diocese of Savannah Atlanta to show our appreciation and thankful ness to Almighty God and to those who were here before us for what they did in sending “something ahead.” By Rev. J. Donald Kiernan, Shrine of the Immaculaie Con ception Parish, Publicity Chair man, Atlanta: All of us will offer our - pray ers for the happy outcome of this campaign. Many of our parishioners will be called upon to offer their services in the campaign organization, and also to pledge, material support. Those with income will be asked to pledge their “Fair Share” of the materiel wealth that God has bestowed upon them. Thus all will contribute toward the realization of the goal. mm ATLANTA MEETING—Nearly 175 priests and laymen attended the regional dinner meeting held at the Sacred Heart School cafeteria in Atlanta. They heard stirring talks from Monsignor Joseph E. Moylan, clerical executive chairman, and Sam P. McKenzie, speakers’ chairman and prominent Atlanta attorney. This scene is typical of the activity of the meeting. Here parish pastors and their chairmen are checking campaign material as they follow the diagram of the campaign being given by the top chairmen. Shown foreground, left, is Father Thomas I. Sheehan, pastor of St. Thomas More in Decatur, working with members of his parish organization. Very Rev. Daniel J. Bourke, V.F., Pastor, St. Teresa's Parish, Special Gifts Chairman, Albany: •The recent but long-thought- out decision to institute the Bishop’s program for parochial and diocesan development must meet with the full endorsement of every Catholic priest, man, woman, and child in the Savan- nah-Atlanta diocese. My hope and fervent prayers are that all Catholics in the diocese will un selfishly u^iite and make this the most successful financial and spiritual building program of this or any other diocese.
