Book Review
Schedule Given
fit Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga.—On Tues
day, October 2nd, at 11 o’clock in
the library of the Notre Dame
Book Shop of Savannah, Mrs.
William Oetgen will review the
book, “Catherine McAuley—The
First Sister of Mercy” by Roland
Burke Savage, S.J, and M.A., an
Irish Jesuit. The book was pub
lished in Ireland. This will un
doubtedly be of interest to Sa-
vannahians since the Sisters of
Mercy have been serving in this
community for over one hundred
years. All are invited to attend.
Having moved to its new spa
cious location, the Book Shop is
resuming its presentation of
monthly book reviews which were
interrupted for a while because
of lack of adequate space in the
old shop. Now that this situaion
has been so well l’emedied by the
acquisition of a seven room shop,
a fine program for the year has
been scheduled which is certain
to capture the interest of most
Savannahians.
An informal tea. will be held
following the review by Mrs.
Oetgen, in the main room of the
Book Shop, sponsored by the fol
lowing committee; Mrs. John A.
Phillips, chairman, Mrs. Thomas
N. McCarthy, Mrs. Joseph H. Mc
Cormick, and Mrs. G. W. Golden-
star.
Reviews will be given by the
following: November 6th, Mrs.
Peter L. Scardino—“The Nun’s
Story”, Hulme; February 5th,
Mr. Walter Hartridge—“The His
tory of Savannah”; March 5th,
Mrs. Joseph H. McCormick—Sub
ject to be chosen at later date;
