TWO THE BULLETIN: OF THE CATHOLIC LAYMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA NOVEMBER 10, 1956. J * I V l ■> J , Brennan Elected President Convention Hears Frank J. Sheet! COLUMBUS, Ga. — Frank Sheed, noted author, lecturer, and publisher told more than 200 del- ^ 3 JOHN M. BRENNAN egates to the 41st convention of The Catholic Laymen’s Associa tion of Georgia, that “Atheism is practically non-existent today,” adding that it is rare to find one who even is willing to call him self one. Mr. Sheed pointed out that the world is hungry for the knowl edge of God and that it is our task to supply this knowledge to the starving millions. - Outlining the work of the Cath olic Evidence Guild, Mr. Sheed told Georgia’s Laymen that he was giving to them information which they had learned from their street-corner preaching, so they may use what they could in their work. “Difficulties the street preacher meets in speaking to large numbers are the same that the individual meets in bringing a knowledge of God to an ac quaintance” Mr. Sheed told the convention. In winning converts, he stated that the Evidence Guild had learned that best results are ob tained when they (1) Avoided Controversy; (2) Showed their audience the “Fullness of God;” (3) Merely stated the Churches teachings, leaving their listeners to draw their own conclusions. The Most Rev. Francis E. Hy land, Bishop-Elect of the Diocese of Atlanta, presided at the two day meeting. Bishop Hyland will be installed as first Bishop of the newly created Atlanta See on November 8th. Elected president of the As sociation was John M.
