MACON PROGRAM—On the evening of December 5, the Home and School Association of
St. Joseph’s School, Macon, was entertained by the Glee Club consisting of sixth and seventh
grade boys and girls. Under the direction of Tommy Jones, a seventh grade boy, the group sang
the following songs and hymns: “Holly Berries,” “Sweet Babe Reposing In My Heart,” “Adeste
Fidelis,” “Down In the Valley,” ‘Deck the Hall,” “Chiming Bells,” “Silent Night,” “We Wish You

torium. Father Carmine Benanti,
S.J., pastor of St. Joseph’s Church,
opened the meeting with prayer.
Sister Mary Henry reported on
the activities of the Junior Red
Cross. Mrs. Robert Young, presi
dent, reminded the members that
contibutions through the N.C.W.C.
were needed for the St. Thomas
More School for Boys.
The athletic committee chair
man, Joe Genone, reported that
repairs were underway on the
building located in the school
yard, which would be used by
the various school teams. Pete
Gaines, captain of the football
team, reported on the success
ful season just ended and thank
ed the parents for their coopera
tion and enthusiasm. He present
ed to Sister Martina Joseph, prin- j
ft | cipal, a football trophy which was
given to the football team by
the Home and School Association.
Frather Carmine Benanti, S.J.,
moderator, remarked that he was
well pleased with the attendance
of the night meetings. He thanked
Mr. Clem Dennis for two basket
ball stands and baskets for the
school yard, and stated that one
basket ball court was being black
-topped. He further anounced that
beginning January 1 all St. Jo
seph Parish children would be
admitted to school tuition-free.
A program of Christinas music
was presented by the St. Joseph
Glee Club, under the direction of
Sister Mary Nicholas. Father
James McCown assistant pastor
of St. Joseph’s, gave a talk on
“Advent And Its Customs”. It
was revealed that much stress is
being made by the teachers in
class on Advent.
A tour of the class rooms took
place prior to the meeting and
each room was beautifully dec
orated for Christmas.
