SAVANNAH, Ga. — Funeral
services for James Patrick Mc
Mahon were held March 5th at
the Cathedral of St. John the
Baptist.
He was a member of the
Knights of Columbus Savannah
Council 631, and a member of the
Hibernian Society and the Sav
annah Lodge of Elks.
Survivors are a daughter Miss
Mary Elizabeth McMahom, and
by several nieces and nephews.

The Church And The Reformation
Discussed By Savannah Laymen
SAVANNAH — Mr. Thomas J.
Nix, of Waycross, Ga., was a
special visitor at the last monthly
meeting of Savannah Branch,
CLA of Ga., held in the Catholic
Community, Thursday, February
28th. Mr. Nix made the long trip
from Waycross to observe how a
discussion club operates, and in
tends to use the ideas gained in
inaugurating a discussion club
under the sponsorship of the Way-
cross branch of the CLA.
The topic discussed was “The
Church and the Reformation” and
Mr. Wm. B. Lane, Jr., president
of Savannah Branch, served as
moderator.
Father Damren, O.S.B., faculty
member of Benedictine Military
School was present for his first
attendance and opened and closed
the meeting with prayer.
Fr. Damren was present in place
of Fr. Raymond O.S.B., who has
been compelled to resign as spirit
ual director due to the pressure
of other pastorial duties upon
being placed in charge of the
Chapel of Our Lady of Good
Hope, at the Isle of Good Hope.
The format for the April meet
ing is being changed. It will be
a planned discussion on the top
ic “The Church and Dogma.”
The Savannah Branch meets
regularly on the Thursday before
the first Friday of each month
from 8:15 to 9:30 p. m. at the
Catholic Community Center. All
Catholics' in Savannah are cor
dially invited and urged to attend
these monthly meetings.
