ATLANTA — A magnificent
new Catholic co-instructional
high school — one of the finest
and most modem in the state of
Georgia—to be built on a twenty-
five acre wooded site at Shallow-
f or d Intersection on the new
Northeast Expressway, will be
ready for occupaney by the start
of the school term next fall, Bish
op Francis E. Hyland has an

This announcement was made
as hundreds of loyal Catholic men
laid final plans to begin supple
mentary solicitations to the Fund
Drive of fifteen months ago.
This Sunday, October 13th, So
licitation teams will call on all
newcomers to the Diocese of At
lanta and on those who have fal
len behind in payment -of their
Fund pledges.
Pledges from new arrivals in
the parishes are needed to make
up for ihe contributions that have
been lost. Their pledges are nec
essary to carry out the great work
that has been started in the dio
cese.
Construction crews are poised
to rush work on the project as
soon as final drawings are re
ceived from the architects. Bishop
Hyland believes actual construc
tion can begin within a few weeks
and he has been assured by the
contractors and architects that
the building will be completed in
time for fall classes in 1953.
PLEDGES BUILD SCHOOL
His Excellency has emphasized
that pledges made to the Cam
paign for Parochial and Diocesan
Development have made con
struction of the new school possi
ble.
Monsignor Cornelius L. Malon
ey, after meetings with many
teaching orders throughout the
United States, declared that a
faculty has been organized and
will be ready to take over their
instructional duties as soon as
the structure is completed.
PROMISE IS KEPT
With the announcement of the
start of actual construction, Bish
op Hyland is making good on an
other promise he made during
the Diocesan Campaign of fifteen
months ago.
The site, atop a knoll looking
southward across the Express
way, w a s purchased several
months ago by His Excellency
after numerous meetings with
priests and laymen in the diocese.
The cost of the property alone
was $93,000. The first unit of the
new high school will cost in ex
cess of $500,000, Bishop Hyland
said.
The building is designed to fur
nish an environment conducive
to learning and teaching. Year
round air conditioning is a major
feature of this environment. All
classrooms have luminous ceil

lighting fixture and giving the
