Four hundred and twen ty-four parents came to the school to meet their children’s teachers and to view samples of the child rens’ progress in school work this year. Sunday, October 6th, the first evening meeting of the St. An thony’s Parents Club was held. Mrs. R. W. Ryckeley and the sixth and seventh grade mothers served a delicious buffet supper to over one hundred ninety-five parents. Several recommenda tions were made: that a small house be constructed to house the j papers for our paper sale; that i St. Anthony’s provide a refresh- fment booth at the Campbellton Plaza Hallowe’en celebration as a civic gesture; that an all-out effort be made by the mothers and fathers of St. Anthony’s to make the County Fair, St. An- ithony’s Carnival, a success. Fa ther James E. King, honorary president of St. Anthony’s Par ents Club opened and closed the meeting with a prayer. St. Anthony’s School COUNTY FAIR will be held on Saturday, October 19th at the school. A portable TV, an electric blender, and an electric fry pan will be given away as prizes. There will | be booths of interest to all mem- .bers of the family: hobby display, | country store, white elephant (booth, doll show, cake walk, pony rides, a carousel, French Cafe, re freshments, fish pond. The Coun ty fair will be held from 12 p. m. to 6 p. m. National Director Conducts Atlanta Youth Workshops ATLANTA — Right Reverend Monsignor Joseph E. Schieder, National Director of the National Council of Catholic Youth, re cently conducted two workshops in Atlanta. He met with the priests in charge of parish youth groups one day and with repre sentatives of the youth the next. The Youth Council plan origi nated by Monsignor Schieder, was adopted by the Diocese of At lanta this past summer. This plan centers on the Parish Youth Council, eight members of the youth group with their priest Moderator, who lead a program embracing spiritual, cultural, so cial and physical activities. Mon signor Schieder came from the National Office in Washington, D. C. to help iron out difficulties and answer questions. Both the meetings with the priest Moderators and the youth were held at St. Thomas More rectory in Decatur and were at tended by representatives of sev en parishes in the metropolitan area of Atlanta. Monsignor Schie der has been Director of the Na tional Council of Catholic Youth for ten years. He offered the ben efit of his great experience and enthusiasm to the newly estab lished youth councils of Atlanta. Services For James C. Gary AUGUSTA, Ga. — Funeral services for Sgt. F-C James C. Gary were held September 21st at the Sacred Heart Church, -Rev. Peter F. O'Donnell officiating. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Lillian P. Gary of Augusta. During 1956, rhere were 2,200 more highway traffic fatalities than in the previous year. BEST WISHES from S.
