This year, from a quota of ten,
only five students were selected
by the faculty-student committee
which nominates to this honor
group. Election is based on a stu
dent’s excellence and sincerity in
scholarship; his leadership and
participation in campus academic
and extracurricular activities; his
qualities of citizenship and serv
ices to the college; and his prom
ise of future usefulness in his ca
reer and society.
The students elected this year
are the following: Frederick Ot-
ten Behrends of Wilmington, N.
C.; James Edgar Belcher of Bel
mont, N. C.; Joseph Francis Her-
rity of Arlington, Virginia; Jewel
Ray Starr of Belmont, N. C.; and
William Donald Teague of Cra-
merton, N. C.
