There is no necessity for any Bank or
Trust Company unless it helps a Community
to be a Better Community and helps its Cit
izens to be Better Citizens.
We are trying to do these two things. If
we can make a man SAVE we have helped
him to become INDEPENDENT. To en
courage SAVINGS we pay 4% interest on

We now behold
The pumpkin’s gold
In every field.
From bursting pod
The goldenrod
Gives goodly yield.
The bumper crops
Of shredded hops
Are in the press.
And one and all
Proclaim the fall
A great success.
“Shay, boss, betcha can't guess what
I’ve been doin’ s’mornin’!”
“You have been bottling my wine.”
“S-s-s-s’ marvelous!”—Le Journal
Amusant (Paris).
“Well, old man, is your oil stove
working good?”
“Fine—can’t you smell it!”
“Law—Silas, do you s’pose they’ll
be tender?”
Silas—Wal, if I can sell ’em they’ll
be legal tender, anyhow.

“What was the tenor of your hus
band’s last letter?” inquired the judge
of the plaintiff in the divorce suit.
“There wasn’t any tenor to it; it
was the basest thing I ever read,” re
plied the woman tearfully.
A Cubist Love Song.
Oh, I love my j.ve with a round, round
love,
With a love that \ath no end;
With an infinite-angled circular love,
A limitless, circular-ircular love,
Her eye is a true oblate spreoid
With a hyperbolical roll;
An ellipsoidally curved spheroid,
A sphere-spheroidally-oid spheroid,
With a hyperbolical roll.
Her parallelepipedical nose
Has an obtuse, upward slant,
Her too obtuse, polyhedrical nose,
Her generatrixical-ixical nose,
Has an obtuse, upward slant.
She has such parabolical lips,
So helieoidally curved;
A pair of parabolical lips,
Of e-elliptical-iptieal lips,
So helieoidally curved.
Like A and B are her unknown ears,
Posited here and there;
Her own unknown, hypothetical ears,
Her theo-e-oretical ears,
Posited here and there.
Oh, I love with a circumferential love,
With a love that hath no end;
With a polygonally-infinite love,
A heliocentrical-entrical love,
With a love that hath no end.

Pup—It may be a walking stick, but
I’ll have to see it walk before I’ll be
