38 University Reporter. The Mississippi University Magazine seems to think that the “Pro gress of out Country” has not been discussed enough, and publishes an oration on that subject which takes up over half the space devoted to reading matter in the November number. The Adelphean comes in a new dress and is as handsome as one could wish. There is a sprightliness about this paper that attracts every one. It may be due to the assistance of the co-eds. The girls are often great workers. The Vanderbi't Observer is a solid paper. It has opinions and does not hesitate to express them. The reply to the “New York Mule in Distress” is good, and gives a sple did idea of the Southern view of Harvard’s recognition of the equality of th u negro. The state of affairs desired by that miserable blubber and idiot, Elliot I. Sheppard, will never come to pass so long as the blood o' the South is as pure as it is now. Tire average Northern editor knows no more about the South than a Zulu does about the North Pole, and the less he attempts to di-cuss the subject of equality with tile negro the better off he will be in the minds of the people.
