It was our privilege to preach

the afternoon. Our congregations
at this place, though small, were
very attentive; and we were im- 1

ones on the outside whose hearts
are with us, and are thirsting for

the Primitive Baptist to be the

Notice the nature of a command,
I do not invite "my servant or iry

But one will say, “the sinner is
saved according to your theory
whether he renents and prays and
has faith or not.” In answer to
this we say that all these things
are fruits and evidences of salva
tion, and are as sure as' salvation
itself.
For instanne, when we see a
train of cars in motion wo hear, a
great noise. It is impossible for
the tram to move witnout the noise,
but yet the noise is rot the cause
or the propeling power which
moves the train. The noise is on
ly an evidence that the train is in
motion and is being propeled by
some great motor power at the
head. Something must draw or pro
pel the train and the moving,
and the r.oise is in consequence
thereof.
So it is with the sinner. When
he prays and repents it is positive
proof that he is moving heaven
ward, being drawn by the Father,
and we know that he is not going
to get salvation for doing this, but
this is proof that he already has’
salvation. I have not space to say
all that might be said upon this
subject, and what I have said is in
a concise way. I hope that it may
be some comfort or instruction to
some wayfaring strwngor, seeking
for the truth., and this rest Jesus
gives. —R. 11. B.

Another source of great grief to
me is the strife ani contusion a
mong the churches. I recall the
day 1 apnlied to the church for
membership : just as I did. s', I d<-
beheve the church was presented
to me as perfected in Christ,—
yes, I saw her in Cnni-T.and stood
dumb at her door to behold her
beauty and holiness,—her sins

sudden anddazlmg, that, as 1 said,
I stood dumb beholding her pQr
lection of beauty, tor perhaps 20
or 30 minutes And had I have
had the physical power, I think I
would havk fled, as that my unhal
lowed feet bad tcuclid her ho'h
ground but I had not the power till
God in mercy as suddenly flooded
my heart with love anew for the
church, and showed me I might
*mter in, in Jesus name. I repeat,
when I recall this, and behold her
happy in the presence of
thus my reward. But this great

ind my body to be burned,
not secure to me heaven or
life and happiness;— the J
of Christ alone could do that, 1 -1
