HOW TO MAKE HOME ATTRAC
TIVE !
O other new game has
ever become so imme
diately and universally
Ali its appointments are so ele
gant in materials and finish that
it makes a very tasteful orna
ment in the parlor, while its
combinations are so entirely
new, and so skill
ful and interest
ing, that both old
and young are de
lighted with it.—
It can be played
so simply that any
child can quickly
comprehend it,
and yet is suscep
tible of such de
velopment of skill,
so nice a calcula
tion of angles, sur
faces, and propel
ling power, that
it provides new
interest and plea
sure for the most
experienced per
sons.
Ladies will find the game one of pecu
liar interest, it being so novel and entire
ly new in its features. And business men,
who, after the fatigues of the day, de
sire some recreation which shall pleasant
ly occupy the mind and furnish gentle
exercise, and in which the ladies of the
family can agreeably engage, will find
Martelle just such a game as they all
need.
Martelle also furnishes an inexhausti
ble source of amusement to visitors. It
is an eminently social game, and will en
hance the pleasure of any visit.
MACON, LA., DECEMBER 14. 1867.
How to make Home Attractive is al
ways an anxious question in the home
circle, and nothing does more to this end
than the introduction into the family of
such games as Martelle. All the mem
bers of the family—young and old—can
engage in the game, and a charming so
cial amusement is thus provided for all.

“ It’s Bill Sikes imitating a locomotive.”
“Come up here, William, if you’ve
turned into a locomotive, it is time you
were switched off.”
