A Word to The Voters.
The election will be held next
Tuesday Nov 3rd, for all county
offices and state and National
offices.
In this county the issue is
clear. You will be called upon
to decide as to whether you en¬
dorse the records of the -Simon
ure crowd > or whether you
want to repudiate the methods
they have used in the past to de¬
feat the will of the majority.
If your memories are not very
short indeed, you will recall not
so very long ago when the Dis.
franchisement program was put
in effect, and we had a Board of
Disfranchisers sitting in the
Court house for days and weeks
and riding bailiffs going over the
county challenging good citizens
and dragging them in here be¬
fore Windy Cole and old Joe
Fore and when (lection day came
there were hundreds of good
men that had to stand around
like orphans and watch the Si¬
mons vote. This is the way as
you all know, that the Simon
pure faction got in office and the
only way they could have got in.
Wp fought them through the
courts but the only court we had
was Newt Morrisujjpd the result
is wed known to all. We then
went to fighting Morris and beat
him and got a Judge that gave us
a clean Beard that restored those
who had been fraudulently dis¬
franchised. to their rights.*
Now the men who did these
things to you and helped to do
them and were well wishers and
beneficiaries oenenciaries to co all an. this uii kind Kina of oi
business have the gall to ask you
to vote for them and keep them
in power. Are you going to
lick the hand that struck you
down? Or will ypu all stand up
1 ike white men and strike back
at the crowd thatput you out of
business.
How came you to get baek on
the voters list after you had
been mistreated? Do you re¬
member who it was that fought
for y jur rights and spent time
and money and worked like tro¬
jans for you? It was the men
who are now asking your support
against the Simonpure crowd.
Don’t forget thatBurtz and Bob
Milton and Jim Weaver and Bob
Pinson and others went trip aft¬
er trip and spent time and money
to get your rights restored.
Don’t forget that if you elect a
Simon pure Clerk and Sheriff
that the ---- Ellijay Times rCc which ,1
branded you as Tax Defaulters .
and , not worthy ., to , , be citizens, ...
will get the legal advertising
for the next two years, and the
Courier that fought for you and
spent money in your behalf, will
be left out in the cold.
Beware of Jhe tricks of the
Simons, who are past masters in
the art of political trickery. Do
not be deceived. Think befoie
you decide to vote for them or
stay aw ay from the polls, what
it means to have the Simons in
absolute power again in this
county. Think how easily they
could give you the same dose
again that they had Joe Fore and
that gang pour down your throat
some time back.
We do not believe that any
considerable number of voters
will be bamboozled by the trick¬
ery of the men who have shown
such a disregard for all princi¬
ples of right and fair dea'ing.
We do not believe that our
citizens will crawl up and sup¬
port the gang that put on them
the worst disgrace that could be¬
fall a good citizen, that is, to
have his light to vote taken from
him by foul and unfair means
You are still under a burden
of taxation caused by the enor¬
mous expense of these disfran¬
chisement courts.
If you are going to lie down
and take it aU and reward the
crowd thatput it on you, we can
stand it if you can but we will
not believe that there is so little
manhood in the county until it is
proved at the polls.
