THE WEST GEORGIAN Froah Haze Sophs In Wild Merriment Asa matter of laet, all rules, tra ditions, anu even customs went to lue warn wuen tne rresiuuan, en raged by the attituue 01 souie oi cue sopnomores, started tne idea or haiicutting, .among the nrst to get snorn oi nig loess was: tne J&ui tor-incnlef himseit, just as ne was coming up tiom tne dining nab ironi ureas fast. After putting up a maniy struggle, lorce of numbers overwhelmed the poor hoy, and ins uair had oeen shorn. Next in line was Billy (Jollier, who got a similar dose, men came Webb, Camp, Lot tin, and all tne outers, hut the aoov e resisted, anu witn tne help of Neveil 'laylor, succeeded for a while in lighting the horue of liair tnirsty iretnnaen otf, but might makes right, and tney, too, in. turn were snorn of tneir locks. Ali tne sopnomores were attended to, ana several of them were even penal ized heavily for cutting Ralph Knights hair, as he was one Oi uie nng leaders. They were subject ed to naving their heads shaved, and seve.al were always on hand to that justice was done —for the freshmen. In a mass meeting Thursday uignt, the ireshmen decided to go to town and wreak vengeance on me iew remaining sopnomores such us Woodrow Ballard and James Harman. They marched to tne Carroli; tney couidn t mane up their minds; then tney marched to tne lair; oeing a little Doider, they attempeted rushing a few r side snows, and fnen lost their nerve . . . . then tiie little boys* in biue ap peal eu on tne scene, and the rest of the time at the fair was spent admiring the comely graces or a nest of turtles which were stirred .p and raced for a uickle. Then, when they left, the fair, tney weru buck by the Carroll, and demand ed to taste of tire hair of Ballard and some more of Webb a, but the Carroll was barricaded, and all the expedition was then thought to be of no avail. Then, thinking the expedition was in vain, they went further up the street, and espied Tom Loftin in Baskins Poo! Room, aa|,Jb*> asked out and atuiudod to. Then . erd hat Messrs. Ingram ami Gunn had returned and were on the war path sent the boys 1 scurrying back to the dormitory to await faculty sanction. Then next, morning, an edict, ironclad in its meaning, declared that hazing was ended, and that any one participating in any form would be dealt with firmly and im mediately. To quote Dean Gunn, when a body of sophomores went into his office to protest, “'We realize that you have had a dirty deal. We are in sympathy with you; but be the men I think you are, and be broad mined enough to look over some thing like that, as cutting hair will not aid in the restoration of your hair.” The freshmen had their spree at the most opportune time that could have been picked by any master mind. No one was left at the Col lege to be Headmaster during the absence of President Ingram and Dean Gunn. The rest of the faculty, though not in accord with what w:is going on, had to watch and al so laugh at the fininshed products, A wondreful sight to behold is the sunlight of early morning, veil ed in its purity for the heavens, to shoot out. rapidly, broadly and come to rest on the head of Frank Parker. SKY “MIRRIOR, TELLS LOCATION OF PLANES IN FLiGHT Intended to record on an air port map the exact minute-by-min ute location of any airplane in flighr, an elaborate model of a "mirror in the sky'- was tested re cently with the aid of a model plane. The model ship, wtih propel ler whirling, was electrically sent circuling a nost to which were at tached three microphones At the end of a table was a map of the I’nifed States, behind glass in front of 325 tiny electric lights. The sound of the propeller was trams rnitted through the microphones, through a maze or wires and. wire- less equipment, and the location of the plane shown automatically by lights appearing on the map. The inventor sav ß it involves a binaural indicator and ether-wave indicattor.
