Mu Zeta Aplhu Installs
New Members Oct., 31
On Thursday night, October 31,
four new members were Initiated
Into Mu Zeta Alpha. The new mem
bers are: Marguret Powell, Sara
C'hannon, Kate Whitlock, and Tom
Smith. These members were se
lected for their high standing In
either Biology or Mathematics,
and for their interest in the field
of Science.
This Initiation was held in the
Zoology room with Edwin Potts as
master of ceremonies. The ueophy
tew'entertained the old members
by a varied and amazing program.
After the program the entire club
enjoyed a social hour.

Debating takes the limelight
this year with a series* of trial
contests and the proposal of a
novel program for the coming sea
sons. A debating league of junior
colleges was proposed last year by
Georgia Southwestern College at
Americus. West Georgia College
has signified its willingness to co
operate; further development will
be announced later.
West Georgia College Debating
Club has challenged similar organ
izations in all the junior colleges
of the state. Responses have been
forthcoming from several of these.
A debate with Emory University
has been scheduled for the first
week in December.
A series of trial debates in the
from of impromptu tryouts were
held during the past few weeks on
the questions of military sanctions
against Italy and a general sales
tax. The new members admitted to
ihe club were Glenn Hogan, Marion
Huddleston, Lewis Reese, Edwin
Rogers, Frank Kelly, Norman Tant
and Pledger Carmichael.
