Their First Meeting
Nine Objective* Formulated
Announces President (ilacld
Zeta Sigma Pi at its first meet
ing of the faculty advisors and of
ficers formed nine very definite
objectives.
“The first of our plans to be
carried out,” states Martha Gladd,
president, “will be in the form
of a Little Forum. Mr. C. P.
Claxton, whom we are fortunate
to have on our faculty, will be our
first speaker. Mr. Claxton who
has recently visited Denmark will
speak on the Present Conditions of
Denmark. The faculty, student
body and general public is cordial
ly invited to attend this first meet
ing which will be held in the au
ditorium on Thursday evening,
October 14, at seven o’clock.”
Last spring the Social Science
National Fraternity, Phi Sigma
Alpha, became affiliated with Zeta
Sigma Pi, an all honorary National
Fraternity of both Junior and
Senior Colleges. Students holding
key membership in this organiza
tion will continue to be a key
member throughout life. Require
ments for admission are three
quarters of Social Science, with a
grade of 85 on all subjects, and
the writing of a 500 word theme
on an assigned subject. These
themes are judged by the officers
of the organization.
37-38 Annual Staff
Maps Program
The staff of the 1938 Chieftain
have planned some definite ob
jectives for this year’s annual. It
is endeavoring to uphold the high
standard of previous annuals.
This will be the fifth publication
of the Chieftain, and it is hoped to
be the best in the history of West
Georgia College.
The theme has not been defini
tely decided upon, but it will be
based upon an appropriate modern
thought. There will be some chan
ges made by which the staff hopes
to improve upon the organization
and layout of the book. Class
pictures will be more uniform.
The uppermost objectives of the
Chieftain is to portray more vivid
ly the student life and principal
events of a year on West Georgia
Campus. The Student Body as a
whole are extending their interests
and activities and the staff plans
to establish a more definite space
in the annual for these activities.
The staff also plans to make ev
ery student in college feel their re
sponsibility for the annual and to
take an interest in it.

Creates Mystery
The cause of much speculation
and anxiety, Max Wicks, son of
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Wicks of At
lanta, returned home Friday, Octo
ber 1, after more than a week af
ter mysteriously disappearing
Tuesday, September 21, from West
Georgia College. Reasons for the
incident were withheld by the par
ents of the boy Friday morning.
Registering shortly before lunch
September 21, the Wicks boy bade
his parents farewell, and had his
dinner on the campus. Thereafter,
it seems that he left the campus
unnoticed by anyone, here or in
the surrounding vicinity.
Every effort was made to locate
the whereabouts of the boy. His
parents were reported to have
been greatly relieved at the news
of their son’s reappearance.

Mu Zeta Alpha To
Publish Bulletin
For the first time in the history
of the club, Mu Zeta Alpha is plan
ning to invade the field of publica
tions with a mimeographed news
bulletin to be issued monthly.
President Greene said recently
that the work, in all probability,
will be placed in the hands of Vice
president Richstone and a com
mittee that will be appointed to
help him. Other clubs on the cam
pus will be invited to follow Mu
Zeta’s lead and combine in pub
lishing a club bulletin every
month. The cost is to be shared
equally and each club is to be
allotted equal space in the bulletin.
More plans which have not been
fully formulated are for this bul
letin to sponsor a literary issue
once a quarter and invite students
to donate poems, stories, and es
sies. This has not been worked
out fully as yet.
This bulletin of clubs is to work
with the paper and for the editors
of the paper to help with technical
advice. If this plan goes into ef
fect West Georgia will have a li
terary paper for the first time.
