Dabs Of Dirt
By G eorge T.
Heretofore this column has been
written by our friend, liill Berry;
But, unfortunately, Bill is not at
tending dear Ole West Georgia
this quarter, so I shall endeavor
to fill Bill's shoes. Bill will be
missed at West Georgia, not only
by Marion Lanier, but by the
faculty and entire student body.
This Column will be written in the
same manner as before except
there might be a little more DIRT.
Everything written in this column
will be purely in fun so when you
are being Walter Winchelled all
over the campus, don’t get your
dander up. Just smile and admit
that it is true.
Now that Christmas is over, Mr.
Strozier is married, and all the
Christmas “spirit” has been in
dulged in, there should be plenty
of dirt about, so here goes.
Merlyn Goss is looking at some
thing besides his mirror now, a
little birdie tells us that it is Vir
ginia Douglas.
Nick O’Neal doesn’t have a hang
over. The reason for his gloom
is that “Chicken” Wilhoit isn’t
coming back and Nick doesn’t
have anyting to crow over. Get
your application in, Sally?
Mr. Taylor says that he has no
intention of getting married just
yet, but we think that he’ll be
extremely lucky if he escapes from
nine very eligible ladies on this
campus. Especially since rumor
has it that Mr. Marshall caught
him strolling in the moonlight at
some late hour the other night
singing, “The love bug will bite me
if I don’t watch out.”
Mr. Strozier and Mr. Bonner are
not the only ones that are being
kissed good night from all ap
pearances. We don’t know their
names but their initals are Ed and
Wilburn.
News from Atlanta has it that
Mr. A. B. McLean entertained sum
ptuously the other night at a pro
minent hotel there. His bill was
$22.50.

A Correction . . .
An unpardonable mistake ap
peared in the past issue of The
West Georgian. In the article an
nouncing the permanent staff of
the paper, the names of Warren
Jones and Virginia Douglas were
for some unexplainable reason om
mitted. The editor of The West
Georgian appreciates the services
of these two members and regret
the mistake very much.
Use your imagination and try to
figure out why the following
"busted up.”
Herndon and Hamrick no longer
eat side by side.
Knight and Sparks are no longer
meeting on the campus at vacant
periods. They are still friends but
positively no loving.
Mr. Buddie Brown is doing nice
ly at West Georgia College besides
taking Home Economics 10, he has
signed up for Dining Hall, Basket
ball, Compustry, and Technique.
Mr. Taylor is instructing him in
basketball, and Miss Bill Brooks
is his teacher in the other sub
jects. Buddie says that he is a
bright little boy and that he catch
es on quickly.
Speaking of Rendevous—Bucka
lew seems to like the ante-room
next to the stage. Ante-rooms
seem to appeal to Cedartown and
Villa Rica girls, says Buckalew.
After the departure of well-liked
Bill Berry from this campus every
one he thought that perhaps after
so long a time Woodfin “Satchel”
Cole would have an opportunity
to display the steadfast devotion
that swears Marion instilled in
him the first of last year. In
spite of the fact that Woodfin never
could get Marion out to partake of
some of grandma’s cooking, and
in spite of the Berry who had an
inside track, Woodfin, managed to
hang on to this devotion until
the New Year’s Eve Dance. While
Marion was at home, Woodfin was
struggling along on the dance floor
with a gal from Shorter. Instead
of being a “stand in” for Billy
Berry, Woodfin is now a “standup”
for Marion.

sired. As can be imagined, the de

the hilly-billy dialect versus the
flowerly “lahnguage” of the city

came out on top, however, wdien
Honorable Judges Sherrill, Ham

Before the debate, the regular

Student Goverment
In Boys Dorm Now
A system of student govern
ment was adopted for a month’s'
trial in the boys’ dormitory. This
system was voted in after a
lengthly discussion at a house
meeting Wednesday evening, Janu
ary 5 th.
The students elected a General
Chairman, six proctors; one for
each hall, and voted to have two
jurors selected at each meeting
from the different halls. The gen
eral chairman and proctors met
after this meeting Wednesday ev
ening and drew up a charter com
posing of specific rules and regula
tions.
At a second house meeting Fri
day evening, January 7, these rules
were presented to and voted upon
by the boys. The rules were taken
from the student handbook with
a few slight changes. Amendments
were presented and voted upon
by the students after a discussion
of the set drawn up by the Council.
Those elected to the house Coun
cil were:
General Chairman, Dick Grace;
Proctors: Tom Herndon, A. B. Mc-
Lean, Frank Dysart, Roy Neely,
Arthur Foster, and Henry Hard
man .
