REMEMBER CHRIST
“,Live while you live, the epicure would say,
And fieize the pleasures of the passing day;
Live while you live , the sacred preacher cries,
And give to God each moment or it flies;
Lord, in my views let both united be,
I live in pleasure when I live in Thee .”
Synthetic religion has become so prominent to some of our more
observing students that a great many of them are repelled by the ob
noxious insincerity of “Christians.” Because the religion of some peo
ple seems a prohibition instead of an opportunity it is easy for college
students to forget that the religion of Christ is the secret of perpetual
youth; that it is in touch with th© very springs of life; that it is at the
heart of all the bright and beautiful manifestations of energy and vital
ity of the young and adventurous; that, when rightly interpreted, it
widens our sympathies, broadens our minds, elevates our motives, ener
gizes our wills, and gives us consciousness of new relations. Christ never
calls us to impoverishment or isolation, but always to enrichment and
fellowship. Because some people seem to forget that Christ is the ful
fillment of life, it is all the more imperative that we remember it.—EAP.
DEAR CHILDREN
“Well, it must be overlooked. They are such dear children—”
Students of the past wer© rough and ready but they didn't indulge
in childish games. Our campus baby-faces tossed paper plates in the
merry glee of gibbering idiots. Sure they made an awful mess, but who
cared—some of the “working students” would have to dean it up before
the college would be honored by Chancellor Sanford’s presence.
Listen here, wise-guys, Miss Grossman is doing all in her power
to please the students of West Georgia College and I think that I would
be safe in saying that we couldn’t have secured a better dietitician. She
does us many favors—does she receive any appreciation from the stu
dents? Not in the least. Instead of sacrificing just a little for her you
make fools of yourselves and disgrace West Georgia College. That sure
hurt her and it also hurts the prestige of the college. And it cannot be
erased with soap and water.
The freshman class, at the first of school, was regarded as West
Georgia’s greatest, but now they seem to be even “crazzier” about “fun’
than high school freshmen.
Students complain about playing “silly little games” in Physical
Education. They don’t have the right to do that any more, since they
did the biggest stunt of them all.
Students, we’ve got to stop all this nonsense and remember that
we are college students or else people will be saying:
“Quick, nurse, bring the WGC darling’s their bibs. They are still
in their infancy.
THINK TWICE
As usual after the first mid-term grades are issued the freshmen
class holds its regular elections. Most frosh regard this opportunity to
choose a class leader with sly smiles and refuse to take this task serious
Here is the chance to prove your worth as a member of your group, don’t
toss away this “foolishness” but vote for the right person and don’t vote
for anyone without giving it thought. Think these queries over:
Can he speak before an audienoe
Is he a “regular” fellow?
Can he keep up with his work after he has an office and outside
work to do?
Why is he popular?
Naturally there are more questions to ask yourself but also remem
ber that the person voted on is human and you can hurt his feelins. De
feat is bad as it is without the best man losing. The candidates’ fates are
in your hands so vote right and act childish in some other way.
THE WEST GEORGIAN

With high spirits (mental spirits
of course) the Genola newsites
swarmed over the U. of Ga. cam
pus. For three hectic days and two
merry nights the West Georgian
staff representatives became edu
cated (really) gasped at a football
game, danced and dined as never
before.
The football game was truly ex
citing, twenty-five seconds of thrills
and outstanding work.
After a banquet on Friday night
the bloated West Georgians at
tended a dance, music by the Geor
gia Bulldogs (commercial plug).
The next day, which was Satur
day for the benefit of the delegates
who don’t remember, everyone
walked those (?) miles to the jour
nalism building for the forum. That
is the educational point mentioned
above.
Saturday noon the men in the
group visited the various sorority
houses. Across the tables the ogg
ling males glared at cute co-eds
and forgot to eat.
The press meet was over but the
Genola writers lingered on. From
their dress and dark circled eyes
you may draw your own conclusions
how the last night and day was
spent.
