Braves In Readiness For
Opening Games Of Session
By Harley Bowers
The West Georgia Braves are pa.
tieutly awaiting the opening bell to
sound for practice to begin and all
of this will take place next Mon
day, November 13.
The Braves, ably coached by
Rhea Taylor who is a veteran of
many seasons hope to develop into
one of the strongest teams in the
state. The nucleus of this year’s
team will be formed around such
stars as, Glenn Whittemore, Seth
Whittemore, Earl Griffin, mainstay
of the 1937-1938 team, Hubert
Brooks and Eugene Evans. These
boys with plenty of ability and past
experience will be ably assisted by
a fine squad of first year men who
have great possibilities. The open,
ing game has been tentatively
scheduled with Southern Union
College from Alabama and the
Braves expect a convincing vic
tory. It is also possible that a
game will be scheduled with the
Carrollton Redskins, who are the
Braves bitterest enemy. Last year
the Redskins took the fifth and
deciding game of the series 51-44
and the Braves will be seeking re
venge this year.

became more familiar to them.
Each team has selected a captain
and co-captain who selected the
teams from the five physical educa
tion classes.
The team that emerges victorious
in the tournament will receive an
intramural five inch letter and ad

one substitute on the winning team
