Fouls" 46 To 45
Ray Jones dropped a foul shot
through the hoop to pace the
Braves to their third victory of
the season, when they edged the
Jacksonville, Alabama Teachers’
College 46 to 45.
The game was a very slow start
er with both teams playing good
and heads up defensive ball
which held the score down to 6
to 3 as the first period came to an
end.
The Braves, led by Big Chief
Paul Rogers, came back in a sec
ond quarter rally to set up a 21
to 13 lead on the score board.
Foul shots accounted for 4 of W.
G.C’s. points while Yates and
Gordon placed a field goal each
in the net. As the first half clos
ed, 21 fouls—B for the Braves
and 13 for the Teachers —were

The W.G.C. Braves went on
the warpath Saturday night, Jan

a wide open game on the local
court.
The end of the first quarter

added 6 points to their record to
place the score at 27 to 9 as the
first half came to a close.
Third period found the Braves
first team starting, but were soon
replaced because of the climbing
score. Every man on the squad
was played during the game and
Coach Clark was well pleased
with the showing they made.
For the Braves, Denson Yates
was high point man shooting 16
markers, closely followed by Cap
tain Paul Rogers with 15 tallies,
while Ryals and Wilbanks with

Braves Defeat
A. B. C. In
51-41 Thriller
In their second win in as many
starts, the West Georgia Braves
crushed a much larger basketball
team from Abraham-Baldwin
College by a score of 51 to 41.
Before the game the Braves se
lected Paul Rogers (All-State,
1941) to lead the ’46 squad by a
unanimous vote.
Baldwin had played and won
only one game as the Braves and
both teams showed very stiff op
position, but the Braves finally
overran the aggressive spirit by
fast breaks which placed them in
all point lead, at the end of the
first half.
The last half was a nip-and
tuck battle, the score being tied
many times. The W.C.C. hard
wood five came through in the
last quarter to gather the 10
point margin which beat the lads
from Tifton.
Ray Jones lead the Braves scor
ing with 17 points while Captain
Paul Rogers sang the net with 16
markers. Mathis, with 21 points,
lead Baldwin’s scoring, while
Bronmon hit the hoop with 9.

60 girls are refereeing, umpiring,

season. They have done outside
studying on this and they must
pass a test with a grade of 85 or
above before they will be quali
