C. F. PALMER SPEAKS
AT W.G. (^ASSEMBLY
On January 15, 1945, Mr. C.
F. Palmer, former National Hous
ing Coordinator, addressed the
West Georgia College assembly.
Mr. Palmer, Atlanta business
man, has promoted slum clear
ance in Atlanta and other cities.
He traveled in Europe during
the war to inspect bombed-out
areas and re-building projects.
Mr. Palmer made a movie,
"Prelude to Peace”, showing the
bombed areas in England and
plans to rebuild these areas. The
film was especially prepared for
the late President Roosevelt as a
part of a report on European
Housing plans. The students of
West Georgia enjoyed this film
very much. From Mr. Palmer’s
speech also they learned many
interesting points of housing.

Detectivin' Around Adamson
Our subject for today will be
Margaret, "Watch My Dust”
Martin. We will follow her
through her days activities to the
best of my vocabulary.
First off, let’s guess what she
does first thing in the morning.
1. Falls out of bed; 2. Falls
against the dresser; 3. Looks at
herself; 4. Screams.
Margaret then washes off the
mudcap and rouge of last night’s
merry making in the way of
pounding into her pericranium
some knowledge of why Henry
VIII was so dextrous when it
came to changing wives.
On this day that we are using
for describing M. Martin, she is
becomingly dressed in a green
fascinator, lavender sloppy Joe,
and purple wool dress, topped by
a stunning tan raincoat. Ever see
Martin in blue jeans?
Dusty’s first class is American
Government as prescribed by Dr.
Roberts in A-22. When the good
doctor says he hopes school
teachers in 1835 starved to death
and that the road to Hades is
paved with people who have no
opinion, our heroine bounds ten
feet into the air in open-mouthed
wonder. At times in this class
she turns every color but polka
dot.
After this class Margaret looks
up Sister Cantrell and they dis
cuss all the problems gleaned
during the morning hours.
Margaret always carries on an

intelligent conversation at lunch
running in the fashion, "I wish
people wouldn’t get the idea that
I’m such a long-faced kill-joy.”
Lemme tell you something, Mar
garet Martin has certain impor
tant jobs on the campus that may
make her seem as she has said,
but when you get to know her
she’s lots of fun!
Martin is ever on the run dur
ing the afternoon, studying, get
ting up V.R.A. programs, worry
ing about the world aiffars in
general, polishing shoes, drink
ing cokes and more talking to
Sister Cantrell, who is a good
listener indeed.
At night, you may see Dusty
at the library if she doesn’t have
something more important than
studying to do.
As all people should, Margaret
reads her daily, or nightly, Bible
chapter just before retiring and
then sleeps the untroubled sleep
of the person whose conscience is
clear.
P.S. Don’t ask me how I found
out all this!!!
