Students And Faculty
Members Attend Ballet
A group of students and facul
ty members attended the Ballet
Russe de Monte Carlo on Satur
day night, January 12, 1946, at
the Atlanta City Auditorium.
The Ballet was divided into
four parts. The first part was a
one-act ballet based on a Russian
folk legend. "The Snow Mai
den”. Music was by Alexandet
Glazounou. This ballet is about
a lovely girl, the Snow Maiden,
who is the daughter of Father
Frost and Mother Spring. She
was born in a whirlwind of snow
in one of the last snow storms of
the winter. This lovely young
maiden sees for the first time a
village with people. She is a
stranger and she does not under
stand them, the warmth and pas
sion of their human feelings. A
shepherd sees her and falls in
love with her. As the spring ap
proaches she gradually becomes
weaker and weaker until she com
pletely vanishes. This happens
at the time of her bethrothal to
the shepherd. She leaves the
bethrothal robe and a tale.
The second part of the pro
gram was a group of dancers
from Mozartiana, suite No. 4,
with orchestral arrangement by
Tschaikowsky. The third group
was a comedy with ballet dancing.
"Comedia Balletica”, a suite from
Pulcinella by Pergloesi-Stravin
sky. The last part was "Diver
tissements” taken from Coppelia.
Music was by Leo Delibes. The
ballet ended with the entire cast
on the stage.

Third Years
Go Hunting
Not even waiting for the weath
er to improve, the third years,
loaded with ammunition, started
out on a hunting trip. With note
books and pencils in hand and
questions ready to fire, the trip
proved to be quite successful.
By talking to different people
of various occupations they
found out a lot of interesting in
formation that they are putting
to use. For instance, they talked
to the janitor about his salary
and were not surprised to find
that he made as much as they
will be making at the end of this
year. This was not discouraging
to them, however, but an incen
tive to carry on, improve the
standards of teaching and do
their part to put better qualified
and better paid teachers in our
schools. Then, too, they visited
several schools in the county with
the County Health Nurse, ob
serving her in her immunization
program.
Seminars have been of a very
interesting sort recently. Topics
of varied interests have been dis
cussed. In short, the third years
have had quite an interesting pro
gram and anticipate a continued
enjoyment of their activities.
President Ingram, Dean
Gunn Attend Meeting
President Ingram and Dean
Gunn leave for Atlanta, Thurs
day for the meeting of the Geor
gia Junior College Association,
and the Georgia Association of
Colleges. It is a coincidence that
Dean Gunn is president of the
Georgia Junior College Associa
tion and Mr. Ingram is president
of the Georgia Association of
Colleges.
THE WEST GEORGIAN
Life With Adamson Angels, Or
Who's In That Closet?
Hello folks! This is Maggie
Pearl Botts bringing to you the
very latest from Adamson Hall.
T n all my many, many years at
good ole West Georgia College,
Adamson Angels this year far
excel (in what?) the Angels of
the past. I have always been par
tial to the men (?) at my dear
old Alma Mater. So here is a
little friendly advice. Watch out
guys, when you struggle (I say
struggle, because I am familiar
with all the females) by Adam
son Hall! We have anew "Pis
tol Packing Mama”, and she is
that quick on the play —gal from
Thomaston —Rachel Kelly.
Many of you have been won
dering about the cow girl from
Cedartown. She doesn’t have the
appearance of a cow-girl, but she
sounds like one, especially after
the lights go out, and she yells
down the silent halls, "Ah-h-h-h
—Ha. San Antoine”. It could be
the first lady of Genola’s Post
Office.
Chapel Programs
Prove Interesting
The chapel programs for 1946
have proved as interesting as
those of 1945. •
On Friday, January 4, the stu
dent body met for its first new
year assembly. Mr. Ingram wel
comed all the students to West
Georgia College, especially the
new students.
Tuesday, January 8, the as
sembly was priveleged to hear
Lt. Commander James T. Clark,
USNR, speak. Lt. Commander
Clark, brother of Dr. Charles B.
Clark of the West Georgia fac
ulty, discussed the importance of
participation in government. Also
he cited many interesting phases
of his career in the Navy.
The January 11th program con
sisted of a book review program
presented by The Children’s Lit
erature class. The program, un
der the direction of Miss Downs,
was very informative and inter
esting.
On January 15, Mr. C. F.
Palmer, former National Hous
ing Co-ordinator, spoke to the as
sembly on housing problems. He
showed a movie "Prelude to
Peace” which was prepared as a
report on European Housing
plans. His discussion and the
movie were very interesting.

This strange noise is not the
only one that keeps me awake at
night. In fact, there are many
others. Thump! Thump! What
is it? The beat, beat of the Tom,
Tom? No! It is Margaret Mar
tin and Marion Moon practicing
their latest acrobactic stunts. La
ter in the night a sudden scream
rips the vail of silence (?) Dot

Dot Owen —on the study table!
Buzz! Buzz! Who in Adamson
can snore like that? That is no
one snoring. It is Becky Hunt
sawing the floor. She is practic
ing for her next art class. (Or is
she planning to build a home for
a red-headed guy some day?)
They tell me she hasn’t learned

I hear that Nita Estes has been
getting plenty of sleep lately.

Bob has proved his affection by
sending her a turtle. (She keeps

"snatch some snooze” and prowl
again tomorrow night.
